ParticipantYou can have lobster. I didn’t buy any, just took pictures. I don’t eat it. Seafood and I don’t get along.

ParticipantSo who is going to be jealous if I say that fresh soft shell lobster at the store was 7.99/lb?

ParticipantI can see the point of not using a picture again, because one could continually use the picture over and over and they don’t really do anything new. However, I see your point. I’d like to add something else though. Say it’s permanently retired if it finished high enough. That I get. But I also wouldn’t want to use one right over. How about if it finished lower than top 10 and hasn’t been used in say the last year or something? It sounds like these photos were used ages ago anyway. In such a situation, I don’t have a problem with using a photo again, but so long as it didn’t finish all that high, because in that case that’s just not playing fair. 🙂

Participant2. The only other thing I can think of is that Stephen King lives in Bangor. Is that also ok for being on the travel brochure? I’m relatively certain I can get Hubby to take me by his house for a few pictures before the contest.
oh, for sod’s sake, woman. 1.Knock on his door!! 2.Tell him what you’re up to and introduce him to Farktography. 3. Profit !! (votewise)
/I would if I could
And the only thing wrong with that is he’s probably not here. According to Hubby, who I just talked to, King actually lives in Florida for part of the year and doesn’t really spend a lot of time in that house. He also said that people stop regularly on the street to take pictures, so that shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll see what I can come up with.

ParticipantFinding it a little difficult to come up with something locally for us that well known enough. So my two ideas thus far are:
1. Mt. Katahdin – it’s the highest point in Maine. Is that ok?
2. The only other thing I can think of is that Stephen King lives in Bangor. Is that also ok for being on the travel brochure? I’m relatively certain I can get Hubby to take me by his house for a few pictures before the contest.Other than that, we’re pretty nondescript except all the trees in the northern geographical half of Maine. What do you guys think of when you think of Maine?
Editing to add:
After searching some, I find we’re notable for moose, lobsters, and a few other things, and while I have pictures of some of them, they weren’t taken by me. I also haven’t come across them since beginning to take pictures myself, so I’m not able to archive dive for much of this. I’d love to just drive around and take pictures, but not sure we have the resources for that, especially since the furnace has needed a couple of (expensive, it seems) replacement parts. Maybe I’m being too picky in that I’m thinking what Maine is *only* known for, because skiing, sledding, and all that is done elsewhere. Also, fall foliage hasn’t been that good of a showing the last couple of years. We have coastline and Acadia, but I may not be able to get down there as going those places is at least a 2 to 3 hour drive one way from up here. Even if I only get two pics, are those two suggestions up there enough?clouddancer
ParticipantRight eye dominant, so I shoot with my right eye. Hubs, I’m not sure, but he’s left eye dominant, and left handed, but does some things right-handed.

ParticipantSo I can re-try the fake fog thing for a better shot for this?

ParticipantMine aren’t all that fantastic this week, but I’m entering two, and they happened to also be ones I came across while out walking with camera in hand and took them thinking of this contest. They’re weak, but I’m going in. Next week, I have snow, but that’s also about it.

ParticipantVery cool. Sometimes come across those mundane things you mentioned but I haven’t quite gotten my eye to see them like that, so I’m glad to know it’s possible. Awesome pictures, and thanks for sharing!

ParticipantThe A to Z set
http://www.flickr.com/photos/42298203@N04/sets/72157625816375932/So far, only one letter, D, but I’m hoping to get more done as the year goes on. Some of the things that my husband picked out aren’t exactly easy to photograph so I’m more spinning my wheels than anything.

ParticipantI wasn’t sure I was going to do one, but I think I might anyway. I wasn’t even sure I’d take a picture today, then my younger got cute and tried to snuggle with the dog. So, today I decided to start it. I can link the set if desired, but I started one today. I looked at my folders of pictures and realized I had done daily pictures except for 01/08, 01/09, and 01/11. I’m also putting up my Photography A to Z set, too, and hopefully will add to that. I only have on letter done, so we’ll see how that turns out.

ParticipantWhoever said this was a good showing so far, I wholeheartedly agree! I love what’s shown up!

ParticipantFor anyone in the path of the storm that’s over a good chunk of the Northeast, now would be a good time for snowy weather pictures! It’s coming down fast right now. I went out for a check since the wind had died down to see if Atrus would be okay out there (he was asking to go out earlier but it was so windy) and grabbed my camera to see what I could get and the show is just about melting on contact.

ParticipantYeah, I plan on using that (and/or the small white marble one we have) for the CPN contest.
Although now that you mention it…. We have cinnamon sticks…three subjects… mortar and pestle, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon…but that might be too much work (we have ground cinnamon so I’m not talking about that).

ParticipantI actually had an idea for this tonight pop in my head thanks to Kestrana’s lovely suggestions and what arrived today via UPS. I might use the shot I come up with out of this, but I won’t be offended or take mine out if someone else also decides to do it.
I’m going to get some fresh herb leaves and put them in the small white marble mortar and pestle we have. Hubby requested a bigger one and his new one arrived today that’s much bigger, and dark/black granite, so if I were to use that one, it’d be something very bright in color. If you have a mortar and pestle that’s not b/w, perhaps putting sea salt crystals or black peppercorns in it or something. Just a thought if anyone wants to use this.
