ParticipantI might be missing something but…what internet protest? The UK news doesn’t cover this much…maybe I need to check the US interweb for an update.

ParticipantI would love to have a 35mm to play with right about now. Be happy you got the new toy =P

ParticipantI’m pretty indifferent to most teams, but hate HATE the Raiders. I still remember when they’d come to SD every year, one bail bond company would release this ad specifically for them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arv5EVnEG2E
The Pats get on my nerves too, but mainly because every time they play at our stadium, they take up like 70% of the capacity – it’s hard to find fellow Chargers fans. It’s always bad because a lot of people travel to SD for the winter games (would YOU rather be in the cold snow, or the beach?), but New England seems to outnumber the rest every time.

ParticipantCongrats to fluffybunny on the “Best” win and to U-Man on the “Funniest” win this week!
Also wondering, fluffybunny just how long it took you to make all those bacon roses? Well done!
Oven? I don’t know why, but I pictured you wrapping the roses and then taking a blowtorch to it to ensure crispiness 😀 Congrats.

ParticipantI guess for all we don’t know about voters, this is a form of feedback. Someone is watching and cares. Just not in a way that we necessarily agree with or understand.
The thing I always dislike is the vocal minority. It has a way of getting to you. Say you get a lot of votes for a sub, and your peers all like the image – what you’ll remember is the little voice in the back of the room screaming “OMG what is wrong with you? You’re so stupid!!”
It’s better you either vote, or don’t vote. If you have a criticism, be constructive about it.

ParticipantI particularly like the feel of the final shot. If the background had been different (or blurred out with a shallow DOF) I think it’d be a really intense look.

ParticipantHaha, sounds like you’re the guy that has 20 projects in the garage at one time. Awesome.

Participant^ love it. Now I can’t help but imagine that’s EXACTLY the way the scenario played out.

ParticipantServer space, or a flickr account if it’s cheaper. If you get a flickr account, you can upload and share your “original” file so there’s no resizing other than what you do to it before uploading. If I have an image I think won’t compress down to Fark’s guides, I’ll minimize it to 640 on the width, and adjust quality until I get about 130kb, then upload. Never had an issue with the image looking different online than it does on my computer.

ParticipantOh-so-excited for the lens to come in now that you posted this, NBD. If I didn’t have exams coming up, I’d be planning a trip just so I could shoot some nature and startrails with it.

ParticipantEh…I’m with you, orionid. I was really looking forward to this theme, but had to pull an archive-dive. Schoolwork and lack of proper bacon in this godforsaken city led to some pretty poor subs by me this week. I had been churning some ideas in my head – nothing as inventive as your “Frying Bacon,” though.

ParticipantI joked about this earlier, but now that I am on the edge of picking shots I have to ask: Film is OK for this correct?
I know that sounds silly, but if the spirit of the theme is untouched images, the very act of how I developed the roll and the scanner settings have a huge impact on the final image. A close interpretation of this theme could read that only digital images completely unchanged from the instant of shutter are the over reaching idea.
Now that I think about this, it’s fascinating, only with digital technology can we actually do this. In film there are dozens of different things one can do between the click and the wash to alter the image, all before the image is actually visible to the human eye.
Cool!
Film is okay as long as it’s not developed. Have fun!
Seriously though, I’m sure film is fine.
