What I was going to suggest for another theme is the same black, white, grey idea with just one colored item, much like the red umbrella pic or like the color popping theme but done naturally. .

I have a picture for that theme idea. I took it around the time of the color popping contest and thought how it looked like a nature made version. It’s damn cute, too… I hope I didn’t end up using it for something else…. Well, I have several frames, I could probably find another that would work.., 😛

ETA: Well, this IS the week of my 2nd anniversary doing farktography — having missed only 2 contests in 2 years — so maybe the universe is reminiscing about the votes I got in my first contest. 😛

Effin’ rain is so hard to photograph. And even harder to photograph in an interesting way. Kudos to those who made it work. As for me, there IS room for me to do worse than last week, but not much, so I got that going for me, which is nice. 😉

And to chime in on the artificial rain, I don’t have a problem with it. Besides that picture is so darn cute!

Thanks man and right now I have nothing but free time. Need a job bad. But these are so much fun to do. I would probably skip some sleep just to go do the light painting thing.

I gots no B sides. I said to my kids last yesterday, “Can I borrow some of your toys?” The one I really wanted was at my step-son’s mom’s house, alas (or as I said at the time: “shit”), but a little brainstorming amongst the whole household came up with the ideas I used. Goofy, but interesting to take birthday-candle photography (that part was my idea, for better or for worse lol)

Elsinore – what do you think about adding a few contests to the schedule? It’s not going to rain another drop here before the rain contest, so we’re going to have to go with shots we’ve already taken. And the night shots, of course, can only be taken at night! =P Thus it would be good to have more contests in mind when we go out armed with cameras. =)

/Which we fully plan on doing today or tomorrow or potentially both.

This. I have one of the biggest laptop screens you can have in a PC, but it’s still only 1440×900.

I mean, I guess I could go sit at the desk-top to look at the contest thread, but it’s not really a kickin’ back kinda experience. 😉

My my, what a mess of rules conversation there is going on here.

My own personal “wish” is I wish they could have the size limits be something like no more than 700 on the longest side, but continue to enforce the file size. Honestly I rarely take advantage of the pops-to-larger, but I really appreciate it being there. And it’s damn hard to get my vote if you post a thumbnail or even something like 200×300. I mean… it would have to be something else indeed for me to be able to know it’s a good picture at that size! But OTOH it honestly drives me batty when someone posts a picture like 1000 long. I mean, wtf is the point of posting something that I have to scroll to see the whole thing?! Then I have to “pops to larger” because it pops to smaller and I can actually see it.

As for captions… this is farktography, I think captions are part of the experience. Keep it short and sweet, sure (I know I occasionally break this rule, and it makes me uncomfortable every time I do. 😳 ) but don’t do away with them.

Anyhoo, interesting contest. I thought it was funny that my last two pix posted together; that’s what i get for posting so late. 😳 The one is so serious and the next is absurd. 😛 Oh well. *shrug*

Elsinore- There’s a place just across the bay from San Francisco where the highway says it is both 80E and 580W… and the road is running North. *shrug* Maybe I’ll figure out a way to make that a picture. I’d need a compass that was fairly easy to see relative to the size of the signage… *brain ticks away quietly*
