The cold weather here caused a water main to break under the house next door to mine. We’re not even expecting snow until Saturday or Sunday.

From the original thread discussion on this topic was this link with examples of low key lighting: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=low-key&gbv=2&aq=f&oq=

orionid also stated “If you could somehow manage to get the sun to work without all that diffuse light….. Like maybe through a small window. I don’t want to discount it entirely, but yeah, for the most part, our favorite flashbulb in the sky would not be the intended type of lighting.” So between both of those U-man your first pic looks fine to me.

I ran this picture by him earlier: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/Kestrana/Photography/Low%20Key/LowKey1.jpg?t=1260332605
and that was fine, it was lit with exterior light coming through a cracked shutter.

I would think the subject being illuminated from a single point fits the first pic fine, the illumination is just coming from the inside.

I don’t know that she has a limit, but of course she would rather not spend more than is necessary to get decent pictures.

I keep telling my mom she should participate. It would be fun and she actually knows what she is doing with a camera, far more than I.

Well the title at least sounds cool.

I’m getting the feeling that this contest could turn into a mess when it goes green and we get a lot of the people who aren’t regulars and don’t come here to read the forums.

    You are almost certainly correct.

“Win, Fail or I Like Where This Thread Is Going” a.k.a. “How many people on the internet can read?”

The thread itself will fall into all three categories, so at least there is a zen harmony to it.

Oh good, here I was thinking maybe it was a subtle NASCAR joke.

FWIW I could plan in Chicago too, since I grew up there. And it’s only what, a 4 or 5 day drive from New York to Washington?

I live in the Seattle area and will help host a party if it is decided there, for me Daytona would be unlikely 🙁

July – August is a great time here, we have Bite of Seattle and Taste of Tacoma festivals, Seafair which is the biggest festival in Seattle, a number of concert series and generally nice weather.

Would it just be too easy for me to take a picture of a redskins bumpersticker or flag for a fail shot?

Probably more accurate to take a picture of a Browns flag at this point 😛

Struggling with, what is fail to me is probably win to others and vice versa
