I am also afraid of approaching people at random and don’t want to end up doin’ time, so I’m curious if pics of people in public settings would fit in here? I didn’t actually talk to them, but one photo that I had in mind is of a couple getting married in a park where it wouldn’t have been appropriate to talk to them anyway. I’m not sure if the focus of the theme’s wording “get close to, or get to know” requires direct interaction or if it is even appropriate to post pics without consent.

The way I read it you can be taking pictures of people you don’t know without having to stop and talk to them since it just says get close or get to know them. I think the main idea was that you’re not sitting far away with a 400 mm lens stalker/paparazzi style.

Looking for some general input this week, I’ve got WAY more shots for this than for a usual thread. Here is a G+ album of my potentials

So any thoughts as to what you good folks like would be much appreciated in making final selections.

This is fark, you gotta go with the no pants shot.

Last time the battle part was pretty loose, if its something that involved apples and/or oranges I’d say allow it.

I would like Linguine’s “A Day Of Protest” removed, because it is a blatant copy of one of my images, just underexposed to the point that you can’t really tell. Protect my copyright!

    👿 😆

Sorry, you’re going to have to shut down all of fark and/or flickr instead.

I’m confused too on this SOPA thing. I read yesterday that the sponsoring Representative had withdrawn it? I also hadn’t thought about how it might affect the contest,

SOPA has been shelved for the moment, although they may rework it and bring it back. But PIPA, the senate version, is still scheduled to be voted on next week.

Are we allowed to do any sharpening when scaling down to fark sized or should we not do that for this contest?

One should never route for Baltimore.

I’m sorry Mr. Steelers Fan, but if it’s a choice between Baltimore and either the Giants or 49ers, I’m rooting for the Baltimorons every single time. As a Cowboys fan, it’s nearly genetic to hate both those other teams. Hate with the heat of a thousand suns…

It’s not even the fact that I’m a Steeler’s fan. It’s a historical fact. Baltimore announced that they were going to put in a bid for an expansion team. Art Model said (paraphrased) “Despite the fact that we sell out every game, and even raider’s fans won’t travel here because of the rabid fans, the city of Cleveland just isn’t making enough money for me. I think I will move the Browns to a new city. Oh, hey, Baltimore wants a team.”
The city of Baltimore replies: “Well, you can’t move them here. We’re not going to fuck over another city the way Indy fucked us. We’re still pissed about that.”
Art Model says: “Fine. I’ll change the name, so it’ll be kinda like getting an expansion team.”
Baltimore replies: “Nope, still don’t want ’em. New expansion, please.”
NFL Lawyers step in: “Baltimore – STFU and GTFO. You don’t get a choice. Cleveland, you can STFU, too. You’ll get the Browns back in the next expansion cycle.”
Cleveland: “Wha….. Wh…. Why do you hate us?”
Baltimore: “Uhhh…… Cool. We get a team two years sooner than planned. We guess pissing on Cleveland isn’t so bad, given the state of the Cuyahoga River. Thanks, Art!”
    Art Model: “America, Fuck yeah!”

So, yeah. If the Ravens had been an expansion team, I wouldn’t hate them, I would just dislike them. As it is, I pretty much pray daily for a sinkhole to open under their stadium simultaneous with a comet impact, locusts, and a strain of accelerated-growth MRSA to break out during their practice sessions.

And baltimore fans are the bitter ones that need to get over it?

    Unless one is sufficiently awesome.

I think you only get the original size file with the pro accounts and they do some compression on all other sizes.

Eh…I treat the “best” button like the old “vote” button and don’t really differentiate between the two.

I’ve found myself doing that for the photoshop contests too now even though they tend to have more funny entries.

Looks like dust either on the lens or sensor to me. Do you know if you used a narrower aperture for the spot shot than the no spot shot?
