ParticipantAwesome! Now I wanna try that. Just gotta figure out how to get one of those trigger sets for my b-day or christmas. I plan on getting a set of macro extension tubes for myself for my birthday so that’s gonna have to wait a month or so I guess.

ParticipantYou need to get one of those chimney things to light the briquettes and never taste fuel again.
“Briquettes?”
Our charcoal comes in “chunks” in 50lb bags a buddy of mine gets from somewhere. Mesquite wood real charcoal. 😀
That’s why I didn’t capitalize it. I knew some people prefer real wood charcoal. I have a hard time finding real stuff around here so use the plain old style “briquettes” Name brand only, the generic offerings never seem to burn no matter what I did to them.

ParticipantOrionid said “Welcome to xyz and pdq for bringing out their boobies, welcome back to abc and qrz, and grats to 1,2, and 3.” That sounds good to me.

ParticipantLol. I feel for ya Rav. I did the same thing back before I had a decent camera but the “mountain lion” turned out to be a dirty as hell fox terrier. With collar. lol

ParticipantI refuse to even take pictures with a cell phone camera. My current cell doesn’t even have a camera. I got the second cheapest phone the store carried. I agree with Orionid on the grill debate. You need to get one of those chimney things to light the briquettes and never taste fuel again. And I don.’t use the grill when it gets real windy so have never had the ash covered food thing yet.

ParticipantCongrats to Kestrana and U-man. A whole lot of very cool pictures this week for sure!

ParticipantWell thank you both. It seems at best focus I am getting about 24 mm across. so that would be 1/4 life size? thats still a lot better than the 55 mm or so not using the loupe

ParticipantHow do I figure out the ratio on my little Canon a560 point n shoot. The entries this week are all just about 1 inch across by 3/4 of an inch high. I held a jewelers loupe ( cheap three stackable lens dohicky ) up to the lens while the camera was in macro mode to achieve much more magnification than I can get otherwise.

ParticipantYou nailed the look I think. lol

ParticipantAll three of my shots were taken within the last two hours or so when I had a minor revelation with a cheap jewelers loupe and my point n shoot Canon. I think I am getting about twice as close as I could do not using it. I had nothing even half as interesting in my archives.

ParticipantVery cool score.

ParticipantMoon is still blinding bright and its rather cloudy to top it off. I saw a few meteors but I don’t think I got even one on camera. Pointed the right direction even.

ParticipantSooo ummm is limbo considered a sport? 😀
Limbo is rather physical but is any other form of dancing considered a sport?. Dancing is usually a production to please someone, not like in basketball where playing a game is to compete. But if there are competitions it should be ok in my book.

ParticipantThanks guys. I will try to get back there soon at sunset but I think the sun sets more or less behind the mountain the abandoned mill is on. Now if I could get up early enough for sunrise the sun would be hitting them way more. I will definitely do the hdr thing with the trucks. ( note to self… don’t forget the tripod.) I need to get an off camera flash some day. I think I had a circular polarizing lens on that day but the sky really does get that dark blue some times. I love it here for looking at the sky day and night.
