OK somehow I missed bucky_bacon‘s Shamwow homage before. That’s Shamtastic!

Definitely. Likewise with pangolyn‘s ‘National Geographic and pretty much all the pics that have been mentioned already.

I ended up with only one entry for this one. I realized that other people would be doing everything on the famous images continuum. Images I considered and rejected:
    … C’est la Vie.

I’ve got one more to add, provided I can get some daylight in the next day or three, just for fun.

There was one more… but we don’t have any slatted chairs (Kat would have had to enter that one though 😉 )

I love olavf‘s We Can Do It! pic 🙂

    Thanks 😀

The only thing I was lacking was a red bandanna. Would you believe with all of Kat’s headcoverings she doesn’t own a red one? :/

Now, if I can just get the ‘Big Mac’ song out of my head… 😛

I’ve only loaded it on two systems so I can’t say that. My ancient VIA m-itx had no problems though, and my main server is happy now that I did the motherboard swap.

I talked to my local Fry’s dude last Friday and they’re using Biostar motherboards for all their new pre-built systems now. He seemed to think they were pretty decent.

/Just ended up with a forced upgrade of my server too. Ended up with an AMD X2 (dual-core) 64-bit processor, motherboard, and 2 gigs of dual-channel ram for about $150 or so.

The ‘phenom ‘ processors start in at about $80 for a x3 core, and the x4’s I don’t remember for sure, but I think they might have been around $150 there. The motherboards can be a bit more pricey since you need the “AM2+” socket apparently.

Anyway, the biostar (it has a nVidia chipset) loaded FC10 quite nicely.

Ah crap, I jumped the gun. E, please move me below the Boobies. EDIT NEVERMIND(*)

    Oh, and BANG!

(*) when did Fark do that? spiffy…

Sorry, there were three or four other early entries and I was still waiting on the boobies to show up, so it was easier to just delete and have you repost.

Hey U-Man just so you see it in case you didn’t with the other post–repost your first entry!

Yeah, that was pretty entertaining – refreshing and watching pics appear and disappear. Yay patience!

I was out of town this weekend, so I didn’t get to congratulate Hagar the Horrible on his win. It was a great thread, guys.

Also, U-Man, and anyone else, am I the only one who got the impression from the Flickr page that Filthy_Farkle’s shot was a stacked exposure? In one comment, he said that shot was “the best of the bunch” out of 25, but later said (in response to a question about whether it’s two differently focused images superimposed) that they were taken seconds apart. He never responded in the thread, and I haven’t seen a response on his Flickr yet either, but if it’s stacked then it can’t stay.

I went back and read the full comment stream, and that what it sounds like to me.

“It’s real. The moon was enhanced a bit for contrast and balance and it was cropped, as the rest of the image was black.

I took a series of about 25 shots. Some favored the branches, others the moon or the clouds. This one was the best of the bunch.”

and in response to “So is this two differently focused images superimposed?? Nice job, Gary. “:

    “Taken seconds apart. “

Glad to hear the chemo is done. I’ve been following justkat’s story in her profile. It’s a fantastic account of hope, fear, setbacks, recovery with some humor mixed in. I’ve suggested she publish it. It’s worth reading.

That’ll be off line for a few more days sadly. Our web server has decided to take a clue from FSM and go the way of the dodo :/

We’re on I-80, but about 500 miles past your destination.

If you want a good beer, try the Polygamy Porter. the brewpub is in Park City, but they serve it in SLC proper too.

The motto is “Why have just one”, or alternately, “Take some home to the wives”. Good stuff.

    haha I couldn’t resist 😉

That lens is the one I grab first anymore though. Both for the aperture, and the fact that it really makes me slow down and frame the shot properly.

Apparently justkat‘s legs are more photogenic than mine. No hard feelings, though. Nice fortune cookie, Bucky_Bacon!

    There’s a reason I didn’t use my own legs :/

Thinkgeek has sunglasses that would seem to be perfect for that.

    This theme is awesome.

Can’t believe that there isn’t a pic of someone sitting at a computer browsing Fark yet…

LOL! That’s one of my B-sides.
