I’m not sure I would have even noticed the farm house if you hadn’t mentioned it.

Wow. I guess that means it is a sunset pic. 🙂

I knew that already but I was having trouble finding stuff for this one. Thanks for keeping me honest.

I dug out a pic from 2005 and went out and took some more. I’ll have three. Not great but three.

I’ve got a shot of a farm in the distance I took about a month ago. I kinda like it but a significant part of the photo’s composition is the sunset. Given this week’s ‘difficulty’ of no sunsets, do you guys think it would be appropriate? If so, I can always save it.

I have been having difficulty with this one. Sure, I can take pics of stuff that is far away, but the photos kinda suck. I have one creative idea (alternative interpretation of theme) but I don’t know if I’ll get the time to shoot it.

You cervidly seem to like to like the deer…

I just had bile rise up to the back of my throat remembering the ‘Points’ farktography discussion thread. 😥

Can’t stop myself though. Gonna hoof it over to the Mrs. and ask her about some whitetail. 😯

What he said. Besides, your wife has participated before, and I’m guessing she also used your hosting, so why would your Mom be a problem? Heck, she’s not even the first parent to participate–my Dad snuck in for awhile unbeknownst to me (though I figured him out eventually ).

Either way, welcome to Farktography, U-Man’s Mom 🙂

Oh yeah. I forgot about the schnee certificate photo that the Mrs. submitted.

    Just wanted to be sure.

Question for the mods – My Mom, 66 years old and working 60 hours a week because she wants to, has been following my (and your) Farktography for the past six months or so. She’s really starting to get into it. While she is an extreme novice with photography, probably doesn’t know what an f-stop is, she is also one to embrace all that life has to offer. I’ve been bugging her to take some pics and enter them. Tonight, she sent me a couple pics that she took and would like my help in getting them onto Fark.

Would it be okay if I added them to my image-hosting site and she entered them using her sign-on and password? I don’t see a problem as long as they are her photos, but I don’t want to rattle anybody’s cage.

I’m excited for her. I know that we’re small-beans, but it is still pretty cool. By the way, she’s probably the neatest lady I have ever had the privledge to know. Look for “Mopsy”.

I spent a couple of hours in the woods this weekend with my camera and 100 mm macro as the only lens. Pretty cool stuff out there when you look closely. 300-some pics later, there are a few that I like.

I imagine that there will be some really good pics this week with such a wide open theme. Folks will be scouring their hard drives for the good stuff. At least one of my ‘possibles’ is a few years old.

Uman, what was your setup for that snowflake?

There wasn’t much setup. I had my gear one Saturday and was down by the river, primarily to get some shots of a bridge. It was pretty cold, about 5 or 10 F, so even though the sun was bright, the snow on the ground didn’t melt. As I was walking back from the bridge I noticed that the snow was extra ‘shiny’. On closer inspection, the were a bunch of complete flakes all over the place. I put the 100 mm f/2.8 Macro on my 20D and shot free hand.

I like my shot. But I really like the perfect focus on the perfect hexagon and star in the center of sleeping’s flake.

“Soosh has an amazing collection of Alaska pics, focusing frequently on water both liquid and frozen”

Like usual, I’ll probably vote for them.

    Yeah, those too. 🙂

By the way, coll stuff tonight. I’m especially taken by jekxrb’s ceiling and chakalakasp’s first two.

What a week. Puking kids, too much work, Mommy not happy about puking kids and too much work.

I gave a quick scan of my pic archive tonight and selected two to upload to the image host. While throwing pretzels to the toddler, I entered the smoke pic. Then, while scrolling down, I noticed sleeping’s snowflake. I decided to hold off on this one for now. Partly to avoid a duplicate type photo – but primarily because his/hers is better. 😀

Perhaps I was a bit out there, but I wanted to see if folks would get it that a school bus is still yellow in b&w. I was trying to be creative with the theme.

I dunno, call me crazy, but I think it’s a stronger shot in color than it would be in black and white. School bus yellow is a bold color.

I hear you. I was torn between the yellow and b&w. Although I kinda wanted to try to show color without any actual color, I’m cool with your decision.

Man, there are some good ones tonight.

Because yellow is just a very light shade of black 😛

And pale yellow is a very, very light shade of black.

What color are school buses in the Southern Commonwealth?
