ParticipantThis one actually works for me. I’m on-call this weekend and my mojo usually isn’t the best during call weeks.
Like orionid, I will be planning somethings inside w/ flash. Or maybe an outside night shot. These winter hours and coming home in the dark sort of push me that direction. Then again, being involved with y’all for a few years and working past dark has forced me to learn about lighting. 🙂

ParticipantMan, that new soosh guy is pretty good.
/and that bucky_bacon guy isn’t too shabby either.U-Man
ParticipantSo I have a couple. I have the inside of Macy’s in Chicago from Christmas time last year that I’d like to use if we decide it fits. If it is right out, well I’ll do something else.
Missed this part before, but Pope Larry already said interiors were ok, and we updated the language in the description, so it’s anything goes for stores at this point.
You know that actually reads like this don’t you? “Pictures of storefronts. New, old, abandoned, anything goes (as long as it is/was a retail business). Interiors are fine, too (f*ckers).“
I mean no offense and I took no offense. Just being silly. 😉

ParticipantElsinore wrote:/seriously crabby right now
//not crabby at you, Farktographers
///meh just gonna go hit the treadmillSee. That was me yesterday and the day before. Then my lovely wife helped me out with something and I’m all better now. 😯
Can’t hit the treadmill either. Plantar fasciitis is leaving but not gone.I have nothing great for this one. I actually snuck out of the hospital today at lunch time (something I never do) and took some shots of storefronts I know were OK. I thought I had photographed them but I couldn’t find in the archives. So I have a couple. ParticipantAlso, just how specific of a storefront does it need to be? I have a “general shopping district” that could fit.

ParticipantI have one interior shot I plan to use. That still OK, right?
Anyone? Anyone?

ParticipantTeam U-Man? Obligatory shirtless shot imo.
Heh. Missed this one.
I think not. Sort of like a sedentary wolf-man. Well, I don’t have a pelt, but I got’s the chest hair.

ParticipantI have no issues with interior shots.
Maaaan. I was sure I posted in response to this a week ago. Anyway, I think the description needs to change if this is OK. It only states “storefronts”. Is anything ‘stores’ OK?

ParticipantU-Man the crystal ball shot is freaking awesome!
U-Man, that crystal ball shot is great.
Thanks and thanks. It made my wife go “Eeewwww”, so I knew it had the look I wanted. 🙂
I got one of these a while back.
http://www.amazon.com/Shutter-Release-Control-RS-60E3-Cameras/dp/B003Q9X770It helped to be able to set it up for 20 shots. I’d knock off 20, look at them on my computer, figure out what to tweak and then do another batch. This was the very last shot and I got lucky. I didn’t plan the shadows on the sides of my face – but I sure like ’em. Makes me look like a werewolf with big chops. 🙂

ParticipantAnd, oh, hai! I got invited by my gorgeous female amazon friend (she’s 6’1″ and likes heels, used to model, absolutely stunning figure) to do portraiture of her over the Christmas break! I’m very excited. I’ve been practicing my portraiture with neighbors and family, it’s my first invite to do so…
Shooting strangers (with a camera) can be intimidating. In my experience, the easiest, most forgiving light is…shade. Shoot outside, find some shade and use one diffused flash. If you can, get the flash off of your camera. If not, dial it down to just light your subject a bit more than the surroundings.
Easy-peasy.

ParticipantI had a close friend’s husband literally drop dead on thanksgiving and at this point right now, even photography isn’t making me happy. I have no clue if I’m even going to try. The crap part is I was in an insanely quaint town with the most beautiful store fronts over the holiday and all I could think was “you really need to shoot them for next week” and I answered “meh”
I saw this yesterday and then dropped it.
You do what you have to do. We’ll be here for a chuckle or a sounding board. As kestrana said, it might do you some good to get out and about. But we’ve all been through a ‘meh’ phase with photography – even without something like what you’re going through.
Be there for your friend. We’ll be here when you come back.

ParticipantHmmm…I wonder if I can make the flamethrowers work on Fifi Mk.II.
I dunno. But I bet I can make the flamethrowers work on 5d Mk II.
Working on that right now.
Sweet.
Got one. Not perfect, but it works.

ParticipantMopsy has all of my D&D stuff from 25+ years ago. But I have a daughter who likes dragons. And I have a 4″ crystal ball.
No pics. No ideas. Gotta start pondering.

ParticipantK – Thanks. I have a biased opinion, but I agree with you.
Yoyo – Yeah, we all go through the awkward, zit-face, out-of-proportion-features features stage. You just have to hope it doesn’t last. 🙂
While I always like a win, I would ‘lose’ gracefully when the competition is as good as kashari’s horse. -
