ParticipantDamn damn damn damn damn damn….
Even with Aaron Hernandez going out with no points, even with Steven Jackson going out after 58 yards, even with my DP making more points for me than both Wide Receivers, my TE AND a running back, (and partly because my opposition forgot to swap out an inactive player on Thursday) I was WINNING until the very last Lions play. Had anyone but Pettigrew caught that TD, I’d have won.
That, combined with Cowboys and Lions losing, 49ers, Pittsburgh and Buffalo winning made for a rather disappointing Sunday of football for me.

ParticipantCISS – It’s a cauliflower. Like I said earlier, I’d done a photoshop years ago, so when my wife pointed them out earlier this year, I shot about 4 or 5. Yesterday when I went into the market office for something, I saw a sign with about 4 different types of cauliflower on it, and this was one of them. The only part i find truly freaky is the geometry of it. I spent some time in a history of math class (it was easier and made more sense than a real math class) and we talked about (among other things) Fibonacci’s Sequence, so a lot of really cool stuff in nature falls into this pattern. Final note, while in Italy last summer, I found Fibonacci’s grave in Pisa. As yet I have met no one IRL who has found that even remotely cool.

Participantravnostic DID come to play!!!
That wine glass is way cool.
Between that, Mopsy‘s spider, Elsinore‘s hue-tastic drop and my cabbage, this thread is not safe for anyone tripping balls.
(I just knew you could do it!)

ParticipantMuchas Gracias for the assist and the comment!
Several years ago there was a Photoshop contest with one of those cabbages (I seem to recall I made one of the cones into hubcaps or something… it was while i was still a PS newb). When I saw them at the Public Market a couple months ago, I got a few pix… never quite knew when it would come in handy…

Participantso… I’m not the only one…

ParticipantSorry to hear that rav.
While I didn’t shoot specifically for this, I made sure my pix fit. You’ve got to have a deep enough archive to manage something well above “sub-par.” Your work is usually well above “par,” and I’m surprised you can’t find a single “biology” or “meteorology” pic to use.

ParticipantIs the Bottle Top “Tripod” in the catalog?
Saw this in Toronto a year or so ago. Definitely marketed to the P&S crowd, as you’d need to fill the bottle with lead to keep it balanced with a real lens on there.

ParticipantOK, I’ll play the part of the curmudgeon: to me, they both scream, “Look at me! I’m more important than the events occurring around me!” And I don’t really care for that kind of self-absorbed behavior. Now if you’ll excuse me, there are some dang kids on my lawn…
I can’t disagree with this sentiment either. However, I’m (and I’m assuming ennuipoet is as well) assessing the photos’ quality as art. The behaviors of the people in the pics are a whole ‘nother discussion.

ParticipantFor those who do not know enough about depression, I invite you to read this:

It’s about as accurate a representation as I have ever read, AND it’ll make you laugh.

ParticipantNow I think the first photo is fine, a nice little street shot, but they aren’t even kissing, and they are walking down a Sunny street in handcuffs, it has nothing of power of the Vancouver Kiss.
While the photog and the subject should be happy about the ink, I am trying to understand why this a a “news” story? I am a just curmudgeon with no love in my heart?
Not a curmudgeon, just honest. Accurate, too. A comparison does not necessarily mean equivalency in power. If people are calling both similarly powerful, well… no. If, however, you’ve got kissers and police in the same photo… well then, of course.
FWIW – I never understood the Vancouver couple photo…

ParticipantQuestion for the mods: “Screen captures are not acceptable”. However, I have a microscope (this one http://www.amazon.com/Carson-Digital-Microscope-Binoculars-Microscopes/dp/B004MNF4BQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1347119530&sr=8-6&keywords=zpix that displays a magnified view on-screen, and can be captured with a mouse. So not a screen capture like the PrtSc button (it’s a live-view, captured digitally in the moment), but alson not a camera in the ‘normal’ sense of the word (DSLR, P/S, iPhone).
In or out. I haven’t used it yet; might gift it out, don’t want to open it if it’s definitely ‘out.’
Gift it out? That’s a treat of a toy!
If you don’t know a 12-year-old who’d use it into the ground, let me get dibs in before orionid.
My dad was a science teacher for decades, and would sometimes bring home lab equipment (like microscopes) to play with. If science didn’t need so damn much math, my life’s course may have been way different.

ParticipantNot saying counseling ain’t worth it… I’m going to contact mine this week to resume work due to the situation I’ve got at work… just that sometimes, all you need is a (self-inflicted) kick in the ass and some genuine human contact. Real physical intimate contact… modern America has rendered most physical contact suspect, so we don’t usually get our daily dose of skin on skin contact. Nookie can help mostly because it’s skin on skin in the most thorough and intimate way possible.

ParticipantCounseling doesn’t relieve “meh.” Only getting off your ass and being active does.
Well, that and vigorous and frequent nookie.
If anyone here’s an expert on “meh” and other depressive states (not as a shrink, but as a sufferer), it’d be me.
