ParticipantI’m just great, CISS! Logged in to use the scatchpad to update my entries, and found that I’d been gifted a month!
On the other hand, today was the first day of school, and I’m stuck teaching 7th and 8th at the worst school in the district. I’m in absolute dread of the year and will be thrilled to successfully make it to June without too much trouble… gonna take a TON of mental health days this year to accomplish that.
BTW – I was updating the scratchpad to replace this (now) B-side- http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7139/7874591984_d1f8357944_b.jpg

ParticipantPursuant to comments from last week…
DON’T FORGET IT’S WEDNESDAY!
You’re welcome

ParticipantOK…
I forgot to check BYE weeks when selecting my back-up QB. I’ve RGIII as my back-up with a BYE on week 10 (same as my starter, Aaron Rodgers.) I’m not looking for an immediate trade, as I’ve got 9 weeks to wait, but if someone’s starting QB blows up, and they have something interesting to trade (decent QB for 1 week (week 10) and a decent TE for week 9) I’m open to trade talks.
I’m more than willing to wait a few weeks, because if I dump him too soon, based on my record last year, Aaron Rodgers will get run over by a nuclear submarine or something.

ParticipantI’m in much the same boat rav. My only really good skyline is that of Seattle from a harbor tour I did a couple years back. Beyond that all my other options are stretching the definition of skyline just a tad. May try to find a free evening later this week to head down into Dallas proper to find somewhere to get a shot of the skyline there.
Stretch away!
I’ve got one that’s 3 silos. The other 2 are more “traditional.”
There’s a bridge where I could easily shoot the local skyline beautifully, as well as the hill where the reservoir is for a different angle. While I’ve got the time to try to get to those places, I said “screw it, that’s what everyone else will do” and went with the silos. I like the pic, even if it tanks.

ParticipantMy wife and I have a vacation deal that we won’t eat at any chain we can find in our home-town. This leaves some chains available (like Zaxby’s Chicken, among others) but effectively closes out a number of others. That said, at least one meal is usually at a brew pub so I can get a flight and fill my growler. It does make us more adventurous, and we learn about foods we may either have ignored/missed/avoided or never heard of. Example: given the fact that “Carolina/Georgia-style” bbq sauces are mustard-based, I’d been avoiding them for years. A few years ago, spending a couple/few weeks in GA and SC changed all of that. We’re now BIG fans.

ParticipantSo, do we post here or are going to set up a 2012 thread?

Participant“In action” does not require kinetic action, I hope.
This one’s relatively open, no?Plants are photosynthesizing, the sun emits various elements on the visible and invisible spectrum, water equals hydraulics, etc…
Before I get too into preepping for this, what’s the ruling on animals? Only wild, or just alive?
Also, what about the social sciences? Can I use archeological remains? What about pics related to sociology or anthropology?

ParticipantI have a feeling we’re going to see a butt-load of RR tracks.
I’ve got 2 as Bs, but opted against for this very reason.Yugoboy
ParticipantVanishing point should be in the image, yes?
If no, how is any image with any depth at all not a potential entry?
I’m prepping my pix now, and I’m planning on at least 2 having strong straight lines and being firmly within the traditional interpretation. A third may end up being a shot from a river gorge with a semi-obvious point. A separate option has strong lines, but the vanishing point is off the image tot he right.

ParticipantQuite fortunate for you!
I have very few insects that I enjoy anywhere in the same zip code as me, but ones that don’t destroy my stuff, make me itch, or spread diseases are certainly potentially cool. Mantises, walking sticks, and grasshoppers top that list.
I have a few pics of a green grasshopper sitting on a sculpture at a sculpture park we visited. I was going to post one, but it turns out all of them were just mis-focused on the sculpture, just beyond the bug. Darn it.
Yours are really nice!

ParticipantWell, shit…
Here I was takin’ shots for this on vacation, and it’s the one I missed…
Oh well… got good ones (I think) for On Reflection 5…

ParticipantSomehow I missed the HDR hole. Mine was more of a divot. 3 or 4 pics, and I was pretty done.
Probably related to my multi-year detour into Photoshop….

ParticipantWelcome Hog!
I’m not sure how much I’ve improved over my past year + of participating (I’m a pretty stubborn bastard), but I can I’ve found myself taking pictures of things I never thought I would, and being a little more willing to approach people and take pictures of strangers. Now I just have to develop nerves of steel to really get into stranger photography.
Hopefully you’ll feel you improve over time… can’t hurt. The more you do, the more fun you (should) have. Ain’t nothing like a steady diet of new ideas and fresh concepts.

ParticipantI’m in… I got the email, but I can’t seem to figure out how to sign up again… probably a problem with my NoScript or AdBlock. I’m in… I’ll try again… Figured it out… when’s the draft?
I know I figured it out because I chose my keeper and it told me I did it successfully. 😛

ParticipantMovie deal in 3… 2…
This has all the earmarks of a small-budget indie flick starring Rob Lowe or the guy from Norther Exposure and Numbers (Rob something or other?) and nobody else you’ve heard of.
