So the church steeple sticking up over a hill will work?

I don’t know why it wouldn’t. It’s the main reason for the photo, right? Then it’s good.

rav – the “difficulty” was that it had to be a building of some sort – walls and a roof. Can be inside or outside.

FWIW – the “roof” aspect actually rules out Rome’s Coliseum for me. It’s been consecrated as a basilica to honor martyrs, and the pope does one mass a year there, but it’s roof-less. Got some great shots of it, though… need to wait for a better theme.

This whole thread makes me sad.

    Awesome!

Look out flea markets, here i come!

(So now I have something to look for besides old books, cheap-o historical artifacts for my classroom and “vintage” porn…)

OK… so I’ve got the room to take small chances with Nikon/Nikkor lenses since 1980?

    Custom homebuilt.

If you’ve got the scratch, that’s not a bad way to go… sort of (follow me on this).

If you don’t know what you’re doing, almost everywhere has at least one local shop that builds and services their own label to order. You will definitely get better product and service from them.

They tend to cost a little (lot) more, however…

Now… if you’ve got the confidence and/or experience… your own custom build is good, too. I’ve got the confidence and experience, but not necessarily the knowledge of the individual interior parts to buy the right ones. I’d likely get either some seriously inadequate parts to mate to some over-adequate parts, or some of the connections would be wrong….

Give me a box with the parts, and I would be fine.

OK… now I have to wait until much later this evening to see what my F3 lens looks like.

Again, the shorthand is to look for the little silver square-ish thing?

(I just looked at the 2 lenses I have for my D5100, and neither has the rectangle, or any of that other stuff… I am assuming it’s because they were both built with dSLRs in mind, and as such the aperture adjustment is in-camera as opposed to manual… correct?)

    That’s a LOT to remember!
Gonna have to print that out before flea market season.

So, I guess i should stick to the Nikon or Nikkor brands if I don’t have paperwork specifically addressing compatibility?

Without wanting break anything, can I attach non-digital lenses to my Nikon? If so, which ones? My wife and I go flea marketing pretty regularly, and if I could pick up some tubes and telephotos and the like for the prices I can pay there, I’d be all about it.

I’ve been pretty leery of doing anything too non-conventional, as there is no budget for replacing anything. Once it’s gone, I gotta let it go, ’cause it’s gone.

OK… back to the drawing board…

However, I love my car one, so I’m starting off in a good place…

(My other 2 were a bike parking lot from Tupper Lake’s Tin Man Triathalon and a gondola parking lot from Venice…)

Can’t speak for anyone else, but my top finisher (which was in second for a while, and rode third for even longer has settles in at 5th… whoever’s doing this vote manipulation thing COULD come along and give me a hand. 😉

    j/k

The new system sucks. Change it back please. (I know no one here has control over that.)

Does it have to be a “car” parking lot?

Not to give too much away, but 2 of my 3 are non-car lots, but they are definitely places people have parked specific conveyances.

That being said, you can’t swing a dead cat in my town without hitting a church. I need to get busy, I guess.

This is one of the most interesting things to the sociology/anthropology part of my brain when my wife and I go to the south. The number of churches, who attends and the sizes. What really got us was the billboards. Up here you get the occasional Latter Day Saints billboard (especially at Hill Cumorah Pageant time), and the other occasional issue-oriented church-funded billboard. Down south they’re everywhere, doing nothing but trying to guilt you into attending some church or other…

    fun times…

My understanding was either inside or outside. Yugo?

Either. The only restriction is that it’s got to be a building dedicated to some belief system.

I guess vote-whoring is easier over at the photoshop contests… I genuinely figured the Italian hottie would do better. No foolin’ the voters!
(Not that it was a great photo… as much as I tried to burn in the background, the contrast was far too bright…)
