    Our pumpkins this year.

If anyone has tips on getting 12 kids to look at the camera, I’m listening. I’ll work on eyes open and smiling later.

The allure of candy was temporarily overshadowed by the desire to jump in the neighbor’s leaf pile.

Hey, that looks familiar! I didn’t photograph mine although I knew I should have.

    Congratulations!

SilverStag – That’s a cool shot. You could always use it for Autumn II in a few weeks.

Thanks. I saw this one as well. It has 2 mp which is better than most that I have seen.

The nice thing about this thread is basically ALL of my photography falls into this category!

Mine too. Now I just have to figure out which weekend adventure had the best results.

    Cool.

My daughter seems to be into the idea of taking pictures – lots of pretend shots with a $5 play camera and having us “review” her work. I’ve been looking for a digital camera rugged enough for a 4 or 5 year old but with decent megapixels (like 2 or more). It has been surprisingly hard to find.

This isn’t votable because I didn’t take it but it does show where I’ve been – somewhere near West Hampton, NY.

Your Blerticus might be the long lost brother to our Marty. Sometimes he’ll pose for me and by pose I mean not get off his fat ass when I’m trying to get in close for a picture. Other times, he gets up and puts his nose on the lens.

I love it when I can cram three or four themes into a single outing. You are more efficient than I am. It took me a week to get stuff for three or four themes. Had the fish theme been a week later, I would have had pics for that too.

    I like #2, #3, #6 and #9

Good information, all. Thanks for the input.

sleeping – I don’t think I will be upgrading to FX anytime soon. I am miles away from mastering the D-5000.

Which camera body do you have? Memory wants to say D40, but I could be wrong.

    I have a D5000.

Thanks. I wanted to get there before the fish contest but the schedule didn’t work out. This is the downside of vacationing with your in-laws. The upside is that they paid for our house which rocked.

I used an external flash with it angled up at either 45 or 60 degrees. I still ended up with flash flares in some pictures (like the one posted above). I couldn’t get a decent shot of the river otters because of the flash reflection and the speed of the damn otters.

All in all, I took about 150 pictures to get 15-20 good ones.

Me to husband PeriRies: There is a moldy loaf of bread on the kitchen counter. Do NOT throw it away.
PR: Why are we keeping a loaf of moldy bread?
Me: I need to take a picture of it.
    PR: Why?
Me: For an upcoming farktography contest.
    PR: You guys are weird.
    Me: Yes, I know.

I like the one with the scuba diver as well. He was cleaning the “reef” which is actually concrete when we spotted him. My daughter was fascinated. They both posed in another picture together. He was a good sport.
