All this talk about festivals and such reminded me that I had a few that could actually qualify for this one. I was the “official” photographer (meaning I had the biggest camera and volunteered) for a BBQ festival, but they were all strangers and for all they knew I was just some dude walking around taking pictures.

Plus it was a pissy day at work and I needed an excuse to do something else. 😉

Farktographer, I actually like that last ‘B’ of the guy best (The Market).

A few early bees for those into BBQ competitions. Thought seriously about using the first B instead of the last A.

I had a couple of hours to kill today while waiting for some test results (software, not medical); I was weary of all the “work” code I’ve been writing lately and wanted to do something fun; and I heard the recent talk where some wanted to see a list of past themes, so…

Contest Index: The main page and the Contests:Index/Search menu now link to a listing of all contests. It’s crude and a huge wall of text, but it is comprehensive. Context Index

// On another note, since his picture is just above on this page, did everyone hear that Epstein went to the big classroom in the sky today?

Interesting that he’s only banned from commenting, leaving him still free to write articles, I’d imagine. Yeah, that’s a tough stance to take, alright, Gizmodo.

Nice find, indeed! It’s hard to imagine a shop owner not doing a little research to find out what his wares are worth. Almost like an Antiques Roadshow episode where someone picks up an ugly vase for $5 at a garage sale and it ends up being worth thousands.

Zero, almost forgot to say – congrats on your publishing credit! I had a few of mine published in the local small-circulation paper a couple of years ago (winners of a BBQ contest my Rotary club sponsored) but they were unattributed. Still, regardless of the size of the paper or attribution, it’s cool to show to friends & family and say “that’s mine!” Almost feels like a little kid – “Look what I made, mommy!” 🙂

I’ll be sitting this one out. I’m not much of a “meeting strangers” kinda guy to start with and I’m still doing 80-hr work weeks right now.

ennui, my picks would be this one, this one, and this one. To me, they seem to most convey the implied personality of the subject.

Following close behind and probably easily substituted for any of the A list are this one, this one, and this one.

I was checking out the Newbs & Kotters tabs, saw this one and that his last visit was Classical Elements and thought, “that would’ve been a nice one for Classical Elements.” Sure enough, I think this one is the same shot. The Stoned version has been lightened, but everything’s otherwise identical, including water patterns. What say the rest of ye – repost or no?

Great stuff already, everybody. Bees here for those interested.

// linguine, I’ll be watching your petroglyphs with interest. I’ve got a similar B that I strongly considered.

Awesome shots, plama. And I don’t think you even posted the best of the lot here. The Subaru Laser is really cool. And I could easily see this one accompanying a magazine article on the observatories.

Great idea, orionid. Now if you’ll only go back through the historical posts here and add all the links and resources that I mentally bookmarked and subsequently forgot about, it’d be perfect. 😉

Dude, I gotta say I’m shocked that you hadn’t seen it before. It seems like it’d be right up your alley. I’d agree that there’s probably limited info on that site because they’re trying to sell you a kit, but I’d bet you can find all you need to get started with a little Google-fu. Personally, I’m excited to see what you could do with it.

(It should go without saying that you really want to use caution with high voltage sources…)

    Yeah, please ^this^ though. 😉

Interesting, that’s what I use, too (GoDaddy 4G). I’ve got a render timestamp on my pages that shows the execution time for each request and it’s never more than about 115ms and usually less than 50ms, so that part is good, but the request queue seems to get backed up frequently.
