Participantwell i picked my three. two are going for the lutz voter demographic. we shall see if i succeed.

Participanthelped my friend pick out her three today but don’t have my own. the expansion to friends helped because two of hers have my sister who is also her friend. i have high hopes for at least one of them.

Participanthang on to your money until you know what you want. olavf‘s “I’ll stand by the ‘what do you want to photograph’ comment” is spot on. i’d love to have a good flash but that $$ could go to something i’d use more like a ring light. OTOH sleeping was showing the advantages of an external flash as back fill for macro work. so for now i have neither since i can’t decide.
you didn’t mention which lens(es) you have now but at $150 you won’t be adding a lens.
if you just have to buy something get a couple more SD cards or a spare battery. you can always use them and it should satisfy the buying itch until you find a major want.

Participant“Ummm…. Drew? We just got a petition signed by people with names like ‘orionid,’ ‘curious,’ and ’cause I said so.’ What the fark is that?”
Drew has no doubt forgotten my user name now but back in the old days of the first crossover contest we were tight.
and by tight i mean he answered my email

ParticipantI am squarely in the “oh HELL no” camp. I already get paranoid when I miss the top ten by a single vote and start thinking, “man, %)(*#$& must have created a dummy account and voted twice for him/herself”. Prizes would give my psychotic ramblings some credibility, and that’s never a good thing.
Kestrana‘s recognition idea would be pretty cool, though!
THIS
to both parts. but mostly the latter.

Participantmy bandaged hand is part of this set although i hosted tonight’s entry on a different host. i also got a real nice CD of all my x-rays when i was through treatment. unfortunately none are on the web and flickr’s stupid photostream layout precludes adding them there.
yeah i could add them to the stream and the set but the damn stream thing lacks enough coherency as it is.

Participantthanks for the opinions all. i may drop one i liked and use both of these. certainly like getting votes and b/w photos need love too. one of the four is a definite entry. it won’t do well probably but i doubt anyone else will have a similar shot.
strange to have more than the three this week since i had nothing for the last few contests. 🙂

Participantfor some of the reasons above and also general dislike of how weird (for lack of a different word) the voting gets i’m against it.
also it was mentioned in the PSAEF that it wouldn’t be impossible to skew the voting if one really wanted to. prizes add that incentive.

ParticipantI’d guess they’d fall under the “otherwise” category of hands.
And as an aside, technically this is probably a classic theme–I think we’ve had one or two other hand themes. NTTAWWI
i just uploaded this weeks entries. yeah we have had at least two “hands” themes before since i now have three groups of photos named “hands”.
didn’t take new ones since i have a bunch of hands shots already. but 1) i couldn’t find some 2) now have 4 resized and saved. so do i use this one or this one.
the second is a scan of my sister using a nikon F2 many years ago. the scratches came from a negative holder when i printed the photo. a new scan with some scanner tricks might get them but but i doubt it. plus i’m not sure where the negative is now.

ParticipantCurious, it’s like any other camera–you must activate the shutter to be the photographer, but if you want to share here, that would be cool.
i’ll put that on the list. recently decided to start sharing more photos through flikr and FB. got a computer project that’s taking way too much time to finish first.
Curious
Participantthought so but phooey.

Participantre x-rays, do the usual rules apply? i have some neat x-rays of my hand with pins of broken finger but i didn’t take them.
Curious
Participantif it were me i’d go with option A. but that presupposes your going to want to print whatever is on the film. in other words the exposures are important to you.
if the exposures are just normal walking around stuff then you don’t have much to lose with option B.
OTOH i know a guy whose best selling image was a pain to print. and i’m sure you too have images you really like that are similar. stuff that you didn’t expect to use long term that are less than perfect for exposure, development, etc and now require a bunch of tricks to use.
so my advice is ….. well i’m conflicted. 🙂
Curious
Participantthe results look real good. impressive even.
Curious
Participantit’s still cool even if nonexistent.
