ParticipantThanks, Els. After mulling it over for a bit and thinking about funds (or lack thereof), I decided it’s best if I just focus on getting better as a photographer with the gear I have before I start collecting a lot of random bits and pieces. I’ve only been shooting seriously for 6 months or so, so it’s probably not the time for me to be collecting too much glass.
Still, I’ll probably get one of these once I get better. I really love the effects they come out with.

ParticipantHow was your weekend?
I got a headache from going through 2600 photos from Taiwan, filtering out the best ones and removing duplicates. Also remembered I owe people photos from a graduation three weeks ago and a family trip a week before that. This is getting to be like a second job, and I haven’t the time 😯

ParticipantI’d say nay. Theme is specific for stairs, not the heaven part.

ParticipantMidget tossing?

ParticipantWow, I REALLY misinterpreted this theme, or had crappy shots this week. I don’t think I’ve had such low votes since I’ve joined the boards. Ouch.

ParticipantI’ve had a mac for a while, but the main reason for that is work-a lot of astronomical software doesn’t run on windows. All of it runs on linux, of course, and on the mac UNIX framework. At the time I got my first mac, I wasn’t really too aware of linux stuff, and by the time I was aware enough of it to acknowledge it as at least an equal contender (if not better than the alternatives), I already had my mac.
For me it’s the opposite. Seems most chemistry software we use at work is Windows-based, so for future schooling I’ll need to hold onto the Windows laptop, at least for structure-drawing.

ParticipantEh…I’m running Windows right now, but might be making the switch to Mac in a few months before moving.

ParticipantThanks. I was figuring it was just dark, not really shadowy, but wanted to test the waters.
CiSS – thanks for putting all that together!
Farktographer
ParticipantFWIW, orionid, I like that pic – I’d say it’s votable.

ParticipantNeed a feeler for this guy:

Too much black, not enough “shadow”?Also, I’m having problems selecting a final shot. Any suggestions/recommendations from the following?

ParticipantDefenestration isn’t romantic.

ParticipantYeah, I’m figuring history-based advertising. I’m also getting lensbaby ads and d7000 ones, even though I already have a d7000 and plan to buy a lensbaby. STOP BOTHERING ME, YOUR AD ALREADY WORKED!

ParticipantGood luck!

ParticipantCovered bridge? I was gleaning from the suggested examples that it was something that was fully encompassed in some sort of frame.

Participantlooks good to me, rav.
