ParticipantFarktographer I think that’s more so you don’t get sued by people when you take a picture of say, a street carnival with recognizable faces in it. The US actually has the same kind of law about “no expectation of privacy” when you’re in a public place.

ParticipantWell when we look historically at the photos we value the most, they pretty much fall in 2 categories – official newspaper types of things like inaugurations, championships, Tianenmen Square, etc. or the photos from the Great Depression, or wars, the candids that just show people doing what they do, that give a sense of what life was like in those times. This is the latter.

ParticipantThis reminds me I need to go buy fruit and start working on my set design.

ParticipantI also asked my first people on the photowalk and they said sure, take our picture…and then turned and walked away from me.

Participantorionid I LOVE your Zen shot, did you set that up or where was it? It’s such nice lighting and really has a soothing feeling to it.
It was a window display in Las Vegas. I don’t remember where though. If you look closely, you can see reflections of slot machines off the glass on the right hand side.
It was in the Wynn casino.

ParticipantYay! Was a trip down memory lane scrolling through that.

ParticipantOh awesome, he’s that asshole that we were upset about earlier…I forget what article he had written but it was embarrassingly terrible how he spoke to commentators.

ParticipantSeriously, if you’ve never gotten filters before first get a circular polarizer and then a neutral density filter. A midrange CPL isn’t that expensive, around $30. I pretty much run with that on my lens at all times when I’m outside during the day, and you can use it to get soft water effects like a ND, just not as extreme.

ParticipantIt’s a really pretty little camera and *i* even devised a way to convert it to 120. Okay, orionid did, but it was my idea that started it.
He also forgot to mention there is a roll of exposed film in the camera that we’re going to develop at some point and see what’s on it!

ParticipantWell the theme was really open last time I think. Just show us pictures of apples and oranges interacting. “Battles” could be uh…well now I don’t want to give my customary list of suggestions because I wanna use them… let’s just say battles can be interpreted loosely.

ParticipantRegarding vuprop as I asked in thread, his third entry is almost certainly select desaturation in post processing of the foreground – but could be done with a graduated red filter. We even own one. Regardless of the post they’re still great entries. I agree with others though – the huge watermark is probably hurting him in votes. Looking at his historical file on Bibliostats, he’s a semi-semi-regular contributor and used to use a smaller one.

ParticipantDid anyone else notice they bumped the limit on filesize to 256K?
NO… gkwhaiot4u2jh4gik32jrlk I had to really play with my settings on my 3/3 to get it under 160k and look non-fuzzy. Of all the phershlikital…
