Wow. Maybe I should have used that pic of daughter #3 in the heart shirt. I personally like that photo – but I thought it might be too odd of a perspective to be liked by the ‘general public’. I was doing something with a wide-angle lens where I was laying on my back and she came over. I snapped a few pics and she left.

I like how it came out like a giant headed caricature.

‘Kat – Of the three girls, she’s #2 on the photogenic list. The bubble girl is actually #3 right now. This one is #1

But they’re still hard to get great pics of – so, I do take millions and get lucky now and then. 🙂

I usually use the Black and White tool as an adjustment layer because it gives you some handy presets to start with.

That is cool. Thanks for doing those three examples. That made it really clear.

….but a black and white or channel mixer adjustment layer will allow you to get a *much* better black and white conversion than simply desaturating.

I don’t know PS well enough. Is this really, really true? What is so much better about it? For B&W in the past, I just desaturate and then mess with contrast/brightness/unsharp mask.

I’m very interested in learning a better way.

When I suggested the geek one that’s the response I got. Actually, that’s been most of what I’ve heard. Pretty much it comes down to “we already did that” even if it was 3 years ago or whatever. Kind of discouraging for a newbie like me to suggest something if that’s the response I’m going to get.

I’m somewhat of a fan of broad themes myself in that it allows room for less of the same shots or same interpretations. I would like a variety, and sometimes making room for holiday themes or something is nice too.

Aaaah. Yeah. We already said that. Like, 3 years ago. n00b.

If it is made known that in general we’re going to try to have a nice mix of theme styles, I think folks will be cool. If there is a reason to plug something in (Halloween, Christmas, something in the news) there should be enough flexibility to do it.

Perhaps the theme category should be discussed along with the +1’s on the main theme forum.

corsec67 might be on to something. I like how he broke that down. While I would give lots of flexibility to the modmins and perhaps not try to wedge them in 1-2-3-4, I like the overall idea.

This might be totally my issue, but I just haven’t been enthusiastic about quite a few of the themes over the past few months. Is it just me?

Anyway, I was hoping we could do a few classics. Maybe, like, a classic theme once a month?

I haven’t felt particularly inspired recently. This week was no exception. But I got a wild hair tonight and knocked three off. As usual, it was fun and I think I am freakin’ hilarious. 🙂

I did pretty tame stuff. I was considering carpet muncher, dirty Sanchez, double stuft Oreos, etc. *shakes head at self*
