Did you want to share the components that made that? You’re all WTF? I’m more curious as to what went into it. Looking at the pieces may help answer (although, looking at it, I doubt it… that’s just cool/weird/odd/interesting/bizarre).

The issue of the Boobies post (and the O for PS threads) has been brought up, and the devs are considering options. We certainly could envotinate, but then that will really mess up stats, because we all know people would proceed to vote for the Boobies/O images.

Seems like “always show the first comment” is a simple enough solution to me since that would take care of the concerns of both PS and Farktography contests. And it should be be simple on the coding side too. But I may be missing something…

I think I’m going to do a single subject this time (usually I try for a significant variety). I’m going through my baseball pics. I’m barely up to the 400s (file #s) and already have something like 30 possibilities…

I think I’m gonna need a longer week. 😉

While I like most of the changes do we know if it would be possible to make the boobies post show up for everyone automatically?

Envotinate the Boobies, sure jackasses will vote for it, but it won’t matter.

I’m not sure how the current coding works, but in the old days, if there was no pic in a PS post, and you tried to turn voting on, it wasn’t happy (I think… I could be wrong).

But, if the Farktography tag were included in the Boobies, that problem goes away. Wouldn’t have to enable voting, either.

How far does the “no actual animals” ban extend? In particular, what about humans dressed as animals? (NOT furries!)

Not my theme, but I’d guess that’s gotta be OK… at least if the costume covers the human 100% – I’m thinking mascots and other similarly dressed humans. A girl in a Playboy bunny costume, while attractive and potentially vote getting, is probably outside the rules.

But… not my contest, so we’ll see what subby says.

OK… I worked tonight for the first time in 2 weeks (still processing and reviewing the pics from vacation.) The stadium had fireworks planned tonight, but I set up as if it was going to be run like a normal night. I knew that the pyrotechnics were going to be “more,” but I didn’t realize they were adding a second launch site. I missed a bunch of the more traditional type fireworks due to an inconvenient roof. The best I could do is what you can see in the fifth shot below.

Fortunately/unfortunately, these are the last shots I’ll be taking for a couple weeks. It’s a couple/few months after the annual servicing should have happened, and I’m sending my camera in tomorrow for it. They said 2 weeks. I fully expect to be trembling and mumbling incoherently long before that.

Final note: the orange letters on the building in pics 1 and 4 spell out KODAK. That’s Kodak Tower. Based on recent news, I’m thinking it may not be Kodak Tower much longer…

I was at the stadium until almost midnight (July 4 Fireworks… see the gallery page), so I almost forgot. I’ve had the pictures ready for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, I got a whole bunch of good stuff from the Adirondacks that I just never got a chance to turn into submission-size pics. Moss and lichens, as well as a few other nooks and crannies were just awesome with the new extension tubes. Looking forward to submitting Tiny Tracts 2 in a couple years…

I do not know enough about wild mushrooms to take any risks with them. I was killing time in a park (and started out shooting for “Parking Lots”) and wound up with shots for a Triptych and this one as well.

He suggested he hasn’t seen any rule about an OBO and timing when poster is TF and absent Farktographer is not. Clarification would be welcome so we make sure not to irritate anyone or violate any rules we aren’t aware of.

I can’t see a reason why this would break any Fark rules, we are talking a few hours not days. (As would be the case in a Photoshop thread) If it were something done every week someone might complain, but for one offs like this no big whoop.

It’s been done before for me and no one complained. I think you’re good.

Thanx y’all. I’m sending this from a library near where we are staying. Not only isn’t there internet where we’re staying, my wife can’t even make a call on her iPhone. It’s not completely out of civilization, but it’s close.

Cool. So it’s a pretty open theme. We will have to operate on the honor system (like we do for lots of stuff) this week. I have some photos of birds and cattails and whatnot that were taken in a local park. But they could easily have been taken in Mopsy’s yard.

The openness also allows us to do more narrow terms before the 2 years are up (State Parks, National Parks, City Parks, Amusement Parks, etc…)
