I see the “art” in his shots. I also see what you’re trying to say enuipoet.

I think part of the difference is the market you’re selling to. If you want to shoot ironic hipster photos of celebrities for upscale hipster bars, you do what he’s doing. If you want to reach a larger audience of more middle class people who need either wall decor or events (weddings) you concentrate more on the quality lighting, crisp focus and excellence in composition.

You’re not him, you don’t have his friends, and your target audience isn’t the same. Keep doing what you’re doing. You may want to play around with stylized stuff to have that quality/option available to your clients.

When I go to arts festivals around here the photography for sale tends more towards what you’re trying to do – quality shots of nature, or heavily post-processed. But… I hang with a more pedestrian middle-class crowd.

Audience is everything. Jeep doesn’t make sports cars, and Bugatti isn’t interested in heavy duty off-road vehicles.

So, my Nikon has a multiple exposure setting in-camera (must be shot with RAW). I can’t currently use that, if I somehow figure out how I’d use it?

    Just for clarity.

    While I haven’t done anything much with the on-board stuff, there’s a freakin’ butt-load of software on-board. What’s in, what’s out?

(It won’t apply to this contest… I got some really good shots today of a train trestle over falls, and some other recent shots of stuff I’m fixin’ to use… just seems like the place to ask the question now that it’s being discussed).

I just got mine posted. Dayum! The contributions are usually really good, but this theme seems to have brought out everyone’s best. Not a stinker in the bunch. Even mine are pretty good.

It appears I have a thing tonight, can anyone do an OBO? I will email or PM the pertinents! TYIA

Unless someone can guarantee they’ll be able to do it before 8:30, I’ll be more than happy to do it.

(I’ll likely be on time, but I’m teaching college, and class is scheduled to end at 9… we don’t always get out early… I will definitely be doing mine before I leave, as I did last week, but if placement is important to you, I can’t guarantee).

    3 graveyards, 2 days, 316 shots, 36 possibles, 10 selected – impossible choice. I wouldn’t say that I fancy my chnces for a change, but I really can’t wait for this one…

Yeah. When I proposed this one, I didn’t take into account the number of people interred in churches in Europe. It’s going to take significant effort to narrow down.

    Maybe I need a couple alts… 😈

I intend to finish in the bottom half of the voting like always.

But it’ll be a good contest anyway. Looking forward to seeing what neato stuff people got.

My general rule of thumb is to post in the order I shot them.

I need voting enabled at this OBO I posted for Farktographer:

    Thanx!

Got it. Thanx. Going with option A.

This was an interesting theme. It snuck up on me. I hadn’t shot specifically for it, but fortunately had some decent shots that say “Summer”, even though I took a few thousand this summer, most don’t.

*Fingers crossed* – I rarely do “people” shots, and all three are, 2 have nieces.

Thanks, Yugo – I sent over a PM. Appreciate it.

No problem. Others helped me out a few weeks ago while I was incommunicado… just paying it forward.

Can somebody remind me of the exact phrasing I should be using? I want to add it to the stuff Farktographer sent over so copy/paste is simple.

Could I get someone to post OBO for me? I’ll be 30,000 feet over the Atlantic when this post goes live…

The 21st is screwy for me (Airborne) but this one I can do. PM me the details, and I’ll get ya fixed up.

Although, I’m on a different computer now, and when I copy/pasted the address above it worked like a charm. Of course.

I remember when the power went out in Toronto (and NYC, etc), it was awesome to sit outside and look at all the stars that you can’t ever see in the city. A lot of people took advantage of this, the parks were fairly busy that night…

I remember that… we were camping in Bar Harbor, Maine… about the only place in the northeast that DIDN’T lose power. Of course, while we were camping, the kitchen was being remodeled. The power outage pushed everything back, and the kitchen was not done when we got home…

    I had this idea:

Given that the thread header is so darn long anyway, can’t the “official” congrats be put in there? You already use black and red text, with blue hyperlinks… what about a green or purple “Congrats to last week’s winner: XXX” after the Legal and before the “Stop by…”?

Either way, honestly not a big deal. If you declare too early… oops… but the Bibliostats has the final word for as long as it’s hosted, and Fark’s now also got a method of looking these things up as well, so if you’re in error, the eventual winner still can prove it. Stress not. Make a decision and go with it. Feel free to let us know in here so obsessives like me can stop thinking about it.
