I’m trying to be charitable and think of ANY reason for using the OCF as a Fill Light, but I just can’t.

I’ve got one: earlier this summer I was at the rededication ceremony for the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls. The ceremony was held under a tent with bright summer light behind the speakers. I was shooting like crazy, but the first few shots were improperly exposed. Turned on the flash, jacked up the brightness, and voila! Exposures came out perfect.
I did not have any other flash, and proper exposure for faces would have made the background look like the ceremony was being held on Mercury.

Secondly, WTF, you wanted my shots? Really, would you walk up to a musician, lean over their shoulder and start copying their musical notation because the song was really pretty and you wanted to play it too?

This happens in places with high tourist traffic. I’m assuming NYC is one of those places. I’ve yet to have it happen here in Western NY (low tourist traffic) but it happened ALL THE TIME in Italy. I don’t say anything, and try not to be smug, but I KNOW my shots are going to be better than theirs…

Still can’t figure out why the guy at the motocross would use a fill flash, though.

    My B-Side

I wasn’t sure enough people would interpret the aisle as a pathway…

    Yay! My team doesn’t suck!
(Here’s hoping the “injury” to Peyton is a strategy thing, and not a real thing… I don’t want to be starting Henne to often.)

And for the love of fark, pick a team picture already photographers!

    I made one for myself.

Anyone who’s Graphic Design skills aren’t at their photo skills and would like a custom made logo, let me know. Also, let me know your team name, and if necessary, an idea of what you want.

    Mine’s pretty obvious, I thinks…

This is my first fantasy league. I like the price of admission, and I hope to do well. I’ll do everything in my ability to do well.

Now, off to finish my wish list.

I had the same thought as I wandered about the Bills Training Camp.

My thought is that we design our own, and have someplace like Kinko’s print and laminate them for us at cost.

We already know a whole bunch of people who know Photoshop and other graphic design programs. We may want to ask Drew for permission to use the logo, or if there’s a way we can use “Farktography.” Alternatively, I would be more than happy to ask i-dig if we could use “Misfit Squirrels” if Drew opts out.

If Drew does come around, we’d probably have to use our real names, and then clear them with Drew, so if someone forges a pass, Drew has some sort of cover.

    (Yes, I’ve thought about this.)

Looking forward to this. Except for entering the Farktography contest, I’ve been too busy with school opening to do anything else. This’ll be a nice break. Not looking forward to having to tweak the line-up every week for Bye weeks, but at least it’ll be a mental break.

I did go out and spend $7.99 on a magazine… now I need to check the injury updates… don’t want to be drafting somebody with a ripped ACL…

Until I start showing in the top 10 on anything like a regular basis, my opinion probably doesn’t matter much.

That said, if you waited 24 hours, you’d probably be safe. As long as the contest is off the main page, I think you have a high percentage of the congrats holding.

Thanx. It’s not like I haven’t got plenty of choices, but there were a bunch of people-less streets in Italy, but had parked cars. Slightly more photogenic than my Sunday in Peoria shots from a few years ago… you wanna talk desolately empty? I stood in the very middle of Main Street, took a few pictures of the empty street and feared in no way for my health and well-being.

I’ll keep your response in mind, though. Thanx again!

Query: Does “No cars on the road” mean “no cars visible” or “no cars being driven”? Can it be a street with parked cars but no driven ones? (This also applies to parked motorcycles/scooters/bikes.)

We’re projected to get some clouds on Sunday or Monday. There may even be some rain if the track shifts too far west.

I have no idea if my 55-200 lens is “macro” but it gives me killer (comparatively) close-up shots. I’m still wanting a longer lens for better telephoto/zoom in capacity. I’ll have to look into extension tubes. I have one for my film SLR, and enjoyed it way back when.

    Octomom’s not that bad……

I’ve got some low standards… but I’ve got standards… she falls outside those low low standards.

(Now I’ve got to GIS Jessica Alba to get these Octo-images out of my head…)

Thoughts on Yugoboy’s lobster traps? They’re made of wood….Similarly torn about QueenBee’s screw in the wooden plank.

From the 3rd post in this thread (in reply to a question about shedded larval husks):

“In the theme forum thread, we talked about this, and the general concensus was along the lines of ‘things that obviously haven’t been alive anytime recently’. So, for example, a macro-style closeup of aged furniture wood or bone fossil would pass muster, but a macro dead leaf or leather (which would likely decompose in a shorter time) wouldn’t. Based on that, I don’t know that the larval shell would really fit, as it probably wouldn’t last a long time in the world before it was lost. “

Bold added by me. This post was in my mind when I selected my shot.
