Can you PM or FB me the address you want it sent to SilverStag?

I suppose my hostility to Lomography is really that I don’t think it is art, at least in many of the ways it’s used. But I also don’t think Jackson Pollack’s creations are really art either. The creative process and thinking behind them, maybe, but the actual productions, no.

Our recent discussions about themes and scheduling has seemed to increase participation here (which is good) but hasn’t resulted in any slowing of themes into the hopper (which is sort of good but also means lots of good ideas wait for awhile and lose their enthusiasm). If we do change the rules to 10 though, I think it should be 10 across the board for both Classic and new themes. I really like Classic themes and we haven’t greenlit any since the new system went in.

    10 is fine with me.

I likeorionid’s idea of having 2 contests at the same time in 1 week but if that doesn’t fly, let’s just do a combined theme.

For those to whom that applies, I believe there is no problem with making the exception to fit the spirit of the theme 😛

I’m glad orionid brought the photo here for discussion. I don’t have a hatred for Topaz itself but the particular shot just looking at it, I would have DQ’d it because I think in this case it looks too processed.

Is Lomography work really gallery worthy right now? I mean, granted there are probably artists out there who can use it to their advantage in an interesting way but it’s such a fad! One of the reasons I love my Voigtlander is the clarity of the images it produces after 80 some odd years. The simple quality of the images in Lomography *bothers* me.

The wiki article + a variety of photo blogs give some good examples and definitions of Chiaroscuro for anyone still questioning their entries.

We have one but the only reason we have it is for some of orionid‘s Software Hootenanny crazy spiral time pictures.

This might have something to do with it too: http://blog.flickr.net/en/2011/06/07/wildfire-rages-in-arizona/

Asked my friend Scott who works at Msoft. He says the bing search engine prefers stable links so older (and thus stable) photos tend to pop up first.

Re: saran wrap on the scanner – I totally made it work. The trick for me was to tape the saran wrap as I was stretching it out. Where the wrap touches the glass and sticks to it is not visible in the final scan. At the edges there is some ribbing from the weight of the object stretching the wrap. Edit: Beware of using something cold though, especially if you can’t open your scanner. When I was done I had created condensation beneath the glass.

I’m not planning on using this so, as they say, the proof is in the pudding:

I did try a scan of me eating it at the end but it wasn’t so evocative.

Who did your makeup? It’s fabulous (and yes, I’m gay; it’s perfectly okay for me to notice such things and say such words as ‘fabulous’.)

    Lovely little chapel, too.

What are the little green bottles with you and Orionid’s name on them for? And I noticed the ‘green’ theme–any significance in that in general? Or just a choice?

#754 has you two written all over it.

I like the wedding party shots taken from ‘on high’, and #960 as well (and 992, and 1017).

1119, 1133, 1143, esp. 1144, and 1162 you’d be remiss not to keep (but might crop the top), and 1197. Like all of these.

Did I mention congrats? Thanks for sharing the pictures; almost like I got to be there!

Makeup and hair was done by my bridesmaid Anita (with the wavy reddish hair).
The green bottles are bubble solution for when we left the church.
The photographer was extraordinarily tall but the staged shots he was on a ladder.

My thoughts were more akin to Elsinore‘s so maybe I’m being overly tough on it.
