Hey I’m from Illinois. It’s not all bad. You can get some waterfall action at Starved Rock or Effigy Mounds.

Although the statistics do show that getting a pg 1 post has a boost in voting, it’s marginal. There are certainly plenty of examples where a pg. 2+ photo has done well or won including off the top of my head, my entry for Take a Seat and cretinbob‘s gnarled tree.

Elsinore you just ran a fun run. That would work. Swimming at the beach or pool is also a sports activity. Hiking, horseback riding, playing croquet on the lawn, frisbee with the dog, the pile of neglected workout equipment being utilized as a coatrack…could even argue dance as a sport and use belly dance pictures especially if you ever go to competition.

I love my Nikon but I got it because orionid had one. Before that I had a Samsung P&S – 2 of my Farktography wins were off that camera. The first digital camera I had was a Canon P&S. My phone has more megapixels now then that camera had, but it was durable. I had it when I lived in the Nevada desert and I dropped it 500 feet when rock climbing. The corner of the casing got scratched up, and that was it. Later though, the internal circuits died, there was a recall but my bf at the time dropped the ball on shipping it out like he told me he would so, new camera it was.

I don’t think that’s true at all. Although they have gotten some votes, we have greenlit maybe 1 thread that got bumped. Sometimes people miss threads.

But if you want to drop that then I think the threshold to get critical mass should be shorter. A lot shorter. Like 30 days and then it goes poof.
