I agree, interesting. I get tired of trying to do HDR and coming out with unrealistic results, so I’ll give this a shot. I’d have figured photoshop had a good way to do this but for the life of me I can’t figure it out properly (seems user-unfriendly when it comes to the HDR in CS5, or I’m just dense and can’t figure it out).

I don’t know how much things have changed from CS2 to CS5, but heres a tutorial chakalakasp made a couple of years ago for CS2 http://backingwinds.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-create-professional-hdr-images.html

Well I could go either way with this but I think Kestrana’s “Could someone else take credit for making this photograph?” litmus test would be a good measure if we decided to allow this. Or we could just institute a don’t ask don’t tell policy.

I like these contests being just for fun. However if someone wanted to offer up lots of really cool and very expensive prizes I may be willing to sell out on my principles.

Since we’re talking about panos, how do people like to host them? If I use picasa as usual it would be hard even for people who clicked through to get anything much larger than gets posted to the thread. but it really needs to be viewed at larger sizes.

What I usually do is upload a fark sized version and a bigger version, then you post the fark sized one in the contest with a link under it for the bigger version.

I like the 4 entries idea but I don’t think it should be a requirement since it would be an unfriendly surprise for a lot of people.

I can’t help it, I’m sorry! I hate pages and pages of dead threads. For forums like “This Week’s Contest” I go back to the old threads a lot and would never support deleting those. But I just didn’t see any point to saving the old rejected suggestions, especially when we were trying to encourage participation and freshness. *bites knuckle*

I do have to admit that it was very easy to go back and find the original volcanoes thread this morning.

Does water falling over a dam count as waterfall? I got nothing so far. Hopefully I’ll be able to get to some place. Don’t want to use another Katahdin shot, it’s kind of boring.

In the original theme thread we discussed building your own waterfalls/volcanoes so I’d think this would count.
