    now you have 4

I thank you,. but I honestly hope you up-voted that one because you liked it.

I’m good at quips, but I generally suck at words, so other than a lame attempt at titles, I don’t put too many words with my shots. I probably should, but they always seem so dry, and detracting.

‘Back’ is supposed to be gritty. It was purposely shot with a 250W hair light set low on plane as the light source to get the shadows the way I wanted them, and to accentuate the spinal curve. The other (personal) important feature is the tat, but I don’t think that’s central to the picture save a few people that would recognize it. Explaining it would be vote-whoring, I think.

‘Spotlight’ was the same night, but I killed all the studio lighting and grabbed a mag-lite as the sole lighting source. It came out as I wanted it on screen, though I suspect I’ll need to tweak it for prints. It’ll probably come out too dark there, it’s hard to say until I run it. I was looking for that power in the shoulders and neck, and wanted to represent that is as minimal of a context as possible.

‘Brick Wall’ is a repost. I used it for ‘Camera Made Me Do It’ but I do a lot of street photography, and that was one of those lucky ‘moments’ where I was able to capture a mood on the fly. I love the shot, and I’m glad it’s doing relatively well, but I’m kind of bummed that it’s doing the best, because I’ve been sidetracked by things lately (like building a website) and haven’t been behind the viewfinder nearly as much as I’d like lately.

I decided I haven’t been doing enough new stuff lately, and took two new ones this week. I got exactly the shot I wanted, catches the curve of her spine perfectly and everything. It’s got three votes. Such is life.

A TF friend recently sent me a Canon A-1 (the successor to the AE-1 IIRC) and a Junior 620, along with some really random stuff like a Minolta 16 (http://www.subclub.org/shop/minoltai.htm but a manly silver). I’ve really got to get off my butt and start using them.

I did a little poking around and there are a number of websites that have members with that username (aprillove20), but I can’t find anyone with a variation of that Fark handle. There is a common theme of photography across most of them – A number of photography-related websites, such as outdoorphotographer.com and some graphics arts websites. Many of the posts in those sites have a similar language structure as her’s does here. There’s also an active user on an ESL website using that same login with posts in the same style.

So I suspect she’s a real person, but I wish she’d share some of her work, and/or participate more than commenting on other’s stuff.

I’ve been wondering about that as well, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a bot, so I figured I’d watch and see.

You never know. meowsaidthedog could have a new-found interest in photography or something.

Curious you’ll be wanting this for your nef files:

When I got my 20D, I was doing RAW+JPG for a while, until I realized that I wasn’t doing anything with the JPGs at all. I’m fairly sure that anything I publish gets tweaked a little.

if i can find a wizard like the camera and scanner one that will download the photos into my preexisting folders i’m golden.

shot some more tests this morning in just NEF and the camera and scanner wizard didn’t see them. but i did find an ok workaround using the NXviewer. it’s more time consuming but when i got done i had NEF files in a folder along with their jpeg counter parts. one odd thing is that as of this morning hovering over a jpeg image no longer brings up the little data box (the one with the image size, date taken, etc.) but hovering over a NEF image brings up a data box with much more info than the earlier one. it adds EXIF info. and speaking of odd, copying the NEF files into my organization folder added .01% to the width and height but didn’t change the file size in MB. i’m not happy about losing the data box on jpeg images and rebooting didn’t fix it.

I don’t have any more XP boxes, unfortunately (we had to move on to 7) so my ability to get into details is somewhat limited to memory, but I don’t think I got much data out of Win Explorer unless I actually looked at the image properties. As far as the wizards go, I’ve long found it much more efficient for me to manually download the pics via a card-reader and then deal with them, so I would never see that. I suspect my general work-flow is a bit different, and probably pretty non-standard =P

I still don’t have a clear understanding of the spirit of this theme.

/that won’t stop me from throwing something into the mix though.

I’m presuming this is a fairly open ‘whatever you consider artistic’ contest, as opposed to the ‘artsy-fartsy’ which as I understand you’re supposed to conform to what is considered an ‘artistic style’ (as in impressionism or whatever).

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, because I’m hoping to shoot all three this weekend.

Elsinore, will my first post that was deleted from beating the boobies completely go away(fark won’t let me repost it for being the same thing) or should I upload the shot to flickr a 2nd time to trick fark into thinking its different.

Linguine, change the text slighty. Adding a period will do it.

/And sorry, Elsinore I never know how long I’m going to have to sneak my pics up from work 😕

I hear you Pope. I’ve been out a few times, but Kat talked me into getting around to setting up a retail print site a few months ago, and that’s eaten up most of my free time. So I haven’t been spending nearly as much time with my photography as I should be. Maybe now that’s in beta and I’m waiting for the legal side to catch up I can get back into the swing of things.

I’ve a few trips from the last month or so, though.
