it’s a conversation piece (as are most coffee table books) and the people who buy the book can actually participate and become a farktographer themselves. I don’t know how to work that in, but i think it would be an interesting draw to other photographers out there

Of course you’re going to see some people in there more than others

1) it depends on how often you “play” in the weekly themes. if you only participate once a month, of course your pics won’t have as good a chance as someone who is involved every week
2) the general Fark population voted on who got in those top 5 spots. If it’s favoritism on anyone’s part, it’s those damn voters! 😛

I think that just randomly picking someone’s 3 favorite pictures wouldn’t have represented the idea of Farktography as well. To set up the chapters by theme and then by contests in each theme, I think we’ve better shown what we’re all about.

There was no way to include everyone, but I think between using the top 5 and then picking several others from each contest, you brought in as many different artists as you could within the page constraints.

Today I’m in need of moral support. Do you think we’ve been fair in the manner we used to select content for the book? I know that unless we included every picture ever we’re not going to please everyone and that there will always be critics of your work no matter how good but I’m feeling overwhelmed today. I certainly didn’t take on this project to create enemies or piss anyone off.

I’m sorry if someone is being dickish about it. Did you explain the process to them? and that it wasn’t just one person making the decision? The specific themes were choosen and then it was the top 5, no? Altho, come to think of it, I don’t think one of mine was in the top 5….Now that I think about it, there was a group of people helping pick, right? So I don’t know why the person would just pick you to blame too..

You can only fit so much in the book and you’re right, not everyone is going to be happy but such is life. Is there a backup list/plan B if there are a lot of people who don’t ever get back to you?

I was surprised by the amount of actual..fork pictures 😛 I figured people would be shying away from it because it seemed so obvious. Theres some good stuff tho 🙂

QueenBee, the last thing you have to worry about is being original. Your entries are always creative, and usually make me kick myself – “OMG why didn’t I think of that!?”. Of course, even if I did think of it, I wouldn’t be able to execute the idea as well as you could!

aww thanks! I tend to think that about everyone else! I had a hard time trying to be creative with this theme. I kind of like that it makes you think though, ya know?
