ParticipantI always want to point out to officious officials that were I terrorist I would almost certainly being using a smaller, less obvious camera than my DSLR for my photo recon. I would be simply pull out a P&S with a decent optical zoom and use the LCD on the back to line up my target. While security is over hassling the legit photog with his DSLR and big white zoom lens I have taken dozens of shots and seen the security response all while sipping tea and playing with something that looks like an iphone.
I suppose I could be a terrorist who really cares about chromatic aberration and proper color capture.
i’m thinking of visiting some small towns nearby in southern MS tomorrow. you know, with the courthouse on the square. i really really hate it that i’m a bit concerned.

ParticipantChristmas of 2007 i gave my sister a t-shirt that says:
I am a Photographer
not a terrorist

Participantlet’s hope the next story is about the cop getting fired. and maybe a civil suit as well.

ParticipantI’ve got stuff that I shot back in the 80’s that I was really looking forward to going through and scanning. Unfortunately, it and my scanner are 1500 miles away right now.
Good luck everyone!
my stuff by and large is in the other room and the scanner is besides me. just couldn’t get excited about going through all of it for what, half a dozen votes?
then i decided that there is one flower photo i particularly like. and one photo from my russia trip that stands out. so i have two and will stop with them.

Participanthaven’t [strike]dumpster[/strike] archived dived yet and probably won’t. it would come from fairs that haven’t done well in the past.
besides i had a busy?boring?long?eventful but ultimately successful day and am not in the mood.

Participantthe FAQs haven’t been updated for the new TF gifts. Elsinore may have been clued it separately.

ParticipantThe State Fair of Louisiana Livestock Department is responsible for a majority of the events which take place on the Fairgrounds. Besides planning and conducting all the livestock shows throughout the 17-day State Fair, the Livestock staff also handles ?off-season? events.
that fair is running now through Nov 13th. it’s in Shreveport which is almost the polar opposite side of the sate and a 6+ hour drive.

ParticipantI am always amazed by how my shots rank among the voters compared to how I think they will. Even when I try to think like how I imagine the Fark audience will, based upon past results, I still get things backwards.
if i had a nickel for every time i’ve read that … well it might make a couple of dollars 🙂

ParticipantI deliberately avoided the dead baby grave stones. There are at least two next door, one that just says infant on one side with specific dates on the other side, and the other says infant daughter, 4 days old. Kind of creeps me out if I think too much about it that we live right THERE next to them. I hope they don’t mind me coming over to take pictures every now and then. I do my best to be respectful.
i have an “infant”. the biloxi city cemetery has a childrens section and while it can be a bit depressing it can also be interesting.
mine for tonight all come from a 2004 visit to the Chalmette National Cemetery with my sister. while i have lots of other cemetery pictures i decided to stick with a “theme” so to speak. it stood me in such bad stead last time i tried it …
my trip to a two family very small cemetery tuesday was jut 1/2 hour too late sun wise. have film there but no digital and will have to correct that one day.

This is happening 4 days before it goes live, the idea of literally dancing on people’s graves makes me happy. I’ve shot a lot of stuff at Green Wood

it’s an amazing place and by the 22nd the trees should be in full Fall colors. I am almost a quiver!
that does indeed look like a good time.
combine it with some halloween decorations and the occasional zombie and it would be perfect.

ParticipantFWIW & FYI & BTW my second entry tonight will be of a small black dog being happy. it looks remarkably like the dog in my “black” entry. in fact it is the same dog shot at the same place about 3 seconds apart. tonight’s and “black” are separate frames with a similar (but different) crop.

ParticipantGrab a kid, tell him he’s getting a motorcycle, then tell him it’s from the make a wish foundation,.. and.. well, you know…
Then tell him you’re just kidding and laugh maniacally. There are your three shots, shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes.i like it 🙂 although lacking kids myself grabbing one off the street for that might not be a good idea.
