Do not know WHAT I’m going to make for the third one…

    Make a Dobos torte.

Don’t know what that is, but I was considering some Ramen noodles…

Did my first one today. First time I ever asked my wife for help, as well (she had to hold the servings so I could shoot cross sections).

Next one is tomorrow… Do not know WHAT I’m going to make for the third one…

Please know that I can sympathize VERY strongly with what you’re going through. My mental health has not been the best lately (although it’s improving… as evidenced by my finally beginning to Photoshop again)…

as I like to phrase it, I’m not mentally ill, just mentally injured. It takes a while to recover from either one.

There ain’t nuthin’ like having to work through a truly lasting and deep funk.

You may want to read : http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/ you’ll know you’re not alone when you read it…
and anyone who wants to know what real funk and depression is like, should also read it… it’ll give you insight.

caradoc: Saw this today on my FB feed from a friend of mine. Thought you’d want to see it.

Yeah… I went to their site to comment, and discovered I had to have a FB account to comment. 🙁

So, I went to the chairman’s House site, and used the contact form to let him know that not all of us have or want FB accounts… then proceeded to tell him the story of how my wife was forcibly groped this summer, and how the TSA nearly trashed $50 worth of Murano glass glasses.

I hate the way people just assume we all have FB accounts. 😡

Interesting story ennuipoet… we REALLY have to meet sometime…

I tried signing up for our peace time navy in the late 1980s for EXACTLY the same reasons… if I didn’t have deficient hearing, it woulda’ happened, too. Damn my inadequate congenital hearing… had I been 12 years younger, the standards would have been lower and I would have gotten in…

True detail about that weekend… I went to the evaluation with another guy from the same recruiter. On the ASVAB he got a 56th percentile, and I scored a 92nd. His hearing was fine and he was accepted to drive trucks… meanwhile I qualified for any job out there and I get sent home… on a freakin’ bus, no less… longest ride of my life.

bob_ross’s photos are busted for me

Too bad, because they are pretty good…

(and I thought I really had something for this one…)

    Thoughts?

    //bee side to ‘curves 2’.

My thought: If that’s your “B” I’m already screwed!

I don’t really know what you want, but the first one definitely has more variety of color. I’m a fan of the processed one, but then I’m an American and bright shiny colors appeal to me.

(It’s the only thing that can explain some of the crap that is on the TV)

If you could ramp up the saturation on the SOOC without sacrificing the blues and purples, it might be a more head-to-head comparison, because as far as I’m concerned, there is no contest.

As a photo for this contest, I like the Buick. The head-on shot of the ’57 doesn’t accent the curves of the body near as well as the Buick’s closer angled view.

    Thanx…

BTW, as for “color level within acceptable limits” in your blue curves thingy, I’d say you’re well within parameters… I haven’t been called on it, so I’m guessing I’m still within the envelope, but I’m sure I get very near it at times with some of the significant tweaks I do to my pics. I do try to keep the rule about changes being consistent across the entirety of the picture in mind when I do any tweaking. The only time I differ from that directive (and that’s only rarely) is with burn and dodge… those are tried and true darkroom techniques even Matthew Brady would recognize, although I only use them rarely, and then very judiciously.

Barracuda – those are both very nice, I especially think the park bench works best in B&W.

Now, I could use some help… I’ve got 2 old car pics. I’m using one, but I could use some advice as to which one.

This one: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6093/6852873876_e8f75c74a0_b.jpg I already have the html set up for Wednesday night, but

this one: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7218/6998997531_8de9182157_b.jpg is pretty nice, too.

Last time I asked for help, y’all steered me right, so please help me out again…

    TIA

Both of you have mentioned the wire-hair version of Jacks. Ours (and the majority) are smooth coat (think “My Dog Skip”).

[quote=”Farktographer”…the TSA. Only way to fix them is to get rid of them, IMO.[/quote]

If Santorum (or Romney) REALLY wanted to get elected, making elimination of the TSA a major campaign pledge would go a LONG way to securing undecided voters.

CISS – Bandit looks to have a raging ass-load of Jack Russel in her. I’ve got 2, and since we moved in, there’s been an introduction of about 5 or 6 more to the neighborhood, so I know the look. Her head, face and ears are exactly perfect for a Jack.

Don’t feed them peanut butter. Peanut butter looks like C4 in an xray. Or so I was told. Rubik’s cubes are worse because the springs look like detonators in a medium density plastic when xrayed. Eventually, I got my cube back. The peanut butter was confiscated for national security sake.

But peanut butter is not a liquid!

So? Since when did any of this make sense?

It’s pointless, and our grumbling, grousing, bitching and general discontent registers not a whit on their radar.

Among all the things I hate about America’s slow decline in the last 30-60 years, the TSA ranks right at the top.

    Looking forward to Curves 2…

Of all the building toys I had as a kid (Lincoln Logs, Tinkertoys, Erector Sets) I never was blessed with Legos.

I also spent an ass load of time on my Misfit Squirrels photoshop this week. Please go over there and vote on Friday if you’re a member.

I hate the TSA as much as any rational person can, but to refuse to fly until they’re done away with only punishes you.

Granted, I fly rarely for a variety of reasons (being so far in hock I’m effectively poor is a big one), but I never would have made it to Italy had I taken that tack. When I can, I drive wherever (I’ll drive 12+ hours to Chicago instead of flying if I’ve got the time, even though the gas prices make that a less fiscally prudent decision), but when I have to due to time constraints, or if there’s an ocean in the way, I’ll suffer the indignity, because there is no way to organize an effective boycott due to the business travelers. Until the business traveling public takes a stand, your refusal is meaningless in the long term.

Fortunately, the local airport here is one of the ones with a private screening company (and a neighbor is one of them, so we made sure to go through his line), so the trip outbound was not overly onerous. It wasn’t until the trip back that we had problems. The biggest problem came in NYC. Due to a huge thunderstorm we were unable to fly out on our flight, had to stay in a hotel overnight and then go through the TSA’s bullshit. My wife got groped so badly she was traumatized. We were traveling back with some Murano glass, and when they manhandled her bag she nearly freaked out, which of course is “suspicious.” Meanwhile I distinctly felt tingling as I went through the backscatter machine.

If you really want this shit to stop, you gotta get the rules written so that your congresscrooks have to suffer the same indignities, degradation, intrusions and abuse as the rest of us. When that happens, the rules will finally begin to resemble common sense, if only because the crooks in congress want to be treated well… they feel entitled.
