ParticipantI’m with CISS. Don’t have squat. I’ll look for something, but nothing I have is all that promising.
Edit: Actually, I sort of rescind that with four words: Upside-down French braid. Could be interesting. We’ll see. I do need help with the setup, so hopefully Hubby will be willing to help with that. Elsewise, well, we’ll just see.

Participant…wondering why you haven’t broken into the abandoned houses you mentioned?
I guess you could say I haven’t gotten there yet. Also worried about stability issues. Things are rather unstable in one and I guess completely collapsed in the other. Depending on how long my interview is, I’ll likely explore on Tuesday. If I don’t get to it then, hopefully by Thursday afternoon or Friday when someone else is here with the kid(s). I’ll get there.

ParticipantAlright. I have a few potentials. Anyone care to weigh in? I can certainly go back out and try again to do better.

Are these sufficiently abandoned enough?

ParticipantSo question about the whole steps thing, and I don’t mean to be a pain. The dam at our lake (yeah, I’ve been focused on that lately) has one of those step things for the fishies to get up and over the dam. Is that ok? Or are we talking more like actual stairs/steps that people walk on? Thanks.

Participantorionid: A ha ha ahahahahaha! You’re funny. Me win? It’d take a miracle. I just play for fun.

ParticipantOk, y’all need to come out to Maine. We have a crapton of abandoned stuff here. Hell, I live between two abandoned houses, not to mention all the crap out in the woods behind the house that’s been forgotten about for ages upon ages.

ParticipantCISS, That is in a word AWESOME. Much gratitude for taking the time to do this. Kind of neat to look at the entries in the order they were posted for the contests instead of by which ones placed the best.

ParticipantI can re-shoot it, its not a problem. I have an idea to re-do anyway, but it does require nighttime, so I might do it tonight after my short shift is over, take the tripod and my camera outside with me for some street-light shadowing. I’m not worried. That shot was more about the streetlight than the shadows of the tree branches at the time. I’d really rather not archive-dive for this so I don’t mind going out.

ParticipantThanks for the feedback for all who responded about it. Gives me a bit more on where to go. I’ll work on something the next day or two. The one shot I thought I could do, I’m apparently not allowed to do now because he changed his mind (not that I didn’t see that coming, but I was looking forward to it).

ParticipantThe only film cameras I’ve ever used (besides disposables) weren’t mine, they belonged to my parents. My Dad has an SLR Minolta with one or two lenses and a flash unit. Other than that, there was an Olympus point and shoot film camera we had. Mom and Dad took that to Australia and somehow it got dropped and the readout (# of pics left display thing) got all messed up and doesn’t work any more. I took it with me on my summer trip to Alaska and shot about 8 or 9 rolls and had them all developed and printed but somewhere along the way after a few moves lost the negatives. After that, I hadn’t had my own camera until about 5 years ago when we were given the Kodak point and shoot at our baby shower for Atrus. Even Mom has a Canon P&S now. Dad uses it on occasion, but he’s not taking pictures much any more. On the one hand, I’m kind of jealous of all you who still have the film and use it, especially since some of you who do that also have your own dark room stuff. That said, I have neither the time nor inclination to pick that up as well. Between scrapbooking, photography, full time transcription work from home in the evenings, a 5-year-old who is starting kindergarten in the fall, an almost 1-year-old who is pretty much attached to me, housework, husband working almost full time during the summer but going to school full time in the fall, plus the depression I’ve never really gotten under control, I’m pretty full up for things to do. Maybe some day I’ll have fun with film.

ParticipantSo at one point about 4 years ago or so, I decided I wanted polarized lenses with my glasses. Now I’m revisiting that. It is nice for seeing in general outside. However, it really screws with your head/eyes when photographing outside, and then trying to use a polarizer filter for those exceptionally bright sunny days outside. I should be due for an eye exam this year and I’m definitely getting new glasses. Glare resistant yes, scratch resistant hell yes (kids love going for the glasses), polarized HELLS NO!. Live and learn I guess.

ParticipantRav, All the computers, etc, were shut off. The guy said it must have traveled through the phone line or something. Said it was his third one today that he had to replace. It’s probably about time anyway. Every time there’s a problem they try to blame on us, they say it’s our modem, even when it hasn’t been. Maybe things will stop breaking. The storm was pretty big, too. I thought about taking the camera out on a tripod on the deck/porch, then decided against it because of all the rain we were having. For the longest time the sky was yellow with a hint of pink. It was strange but beautiful at the same time.

ParticipantStupid internet. Stupid modem. Stupid lightning. I lost 6, count them SIX HOURS of work last night because lightning rolled through and blew up our modem. GRRRRRRR. I’m only NOW getting to post. I’m really frustrated. Sorry.

ParticipantJust want to put here for the record that baking soda and vinegar is a weak reaction and really not what I’m going for. Any suggestions for household things to create a bigger reaction?
Yeah, I’m making my own. Only chance I have in this.
