I think the tilapia cost around $3 or $4, and was a whole lot more fun. Especially threatening the kids.

LOL Kat looks less than thrilled to be holding the fish in the fish slap pic.
That fish head soup looks yummy BTW … not really but great shot!

… Some nice stuff from those that did partcipate though!

The series with the guy training the horse is awesome, in particular.

    Yup. *tips Stetson*
Ennuipoet‘s operation shot also really caught my eye. He managed a great photo, under challenging circumstances – not to mention some heavy sedation. Glad all is well now.

Pope_Larry_II – Carey Price? So you’re a habs fan, but you live in TO? You’re happy no matter who wins tonight’s game, aren’t you? … looks like Leafs, 3-2 with 2min in the 3rd.

caradoc, thanks for the link. Even though I’m in Canada, I think most of that applies here too. The problem was, I wasn’t sure if I was on public or private property. One end of the park is definitely a public park, but there is no fence or other line separating it from the school grounds.
I also understand that there are sickos that kids need to be protected from, so I could see her point. It just sucks that because of them I get tarred with the same brush.

We don’t have a Gestap … I mean Dept. of Homeland Security like the USA yet, so no worries about taking pics of bridges and what not. However, if I could get a version of that shirt that swaps “child molester” with “terrrist”, it might help.

I think my best bet, if I want cute kid pics, is to either a) reproduce b) get permission beforehand or c) do it in a public place, preferably where there are others taking pics as well.

[rant]Good thing you didn’t dawdle. You may have been approached by the perv police, as I was the other day. There was music blaring and some guy on a PA system, along with lots of cheering – emanating from a park near my house. Hopped on my bike with camera in hand, and dog along for the ride. This park has a school at one end, and there was some kind of team competition happening: sack races, frisbee relay, yadda yadda. I thought, “Cool, a chance to practice some sports photography.”
Before I even got one shot off, some scowling woman was in my face demanding to know WTF I was doing. “Uh, I heard the commotion, and came to see what was going on. Thought I might get some pictures of the kids having fun.” Nope. Not allowed, she said. I can’t help but wonder if she would have been so concerned, had I been a woman?
    👿 Effing pedos. [/rant]

Anyway, I like the color version best. With the other two, it’s harder to tell that the girl on the right is in the sunbeam. The bands of light are a bit distracting in the non-color versions, the B+W version particularly. In the color shot, my eye is drawn to the girl and the chair.
I see what you’re saying RE the “together, but apart” element. It’s that kind of thought process that separates snapshots from photos, IMO.
Keep it up, but stay away from the kiddos unless you have permission.

    Yay, it’s here!

What an upgrade over my other digital cam, a Fujifilm S3100/3500 , which I’ve used for the vast majority of my Farktography.

Ooh, the options I have now … thanks for the hand-me-down, Curious!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an instruction manual to read 😀

Zero_Exponent: Got em. Also, we had that same birthday cake for Mini-Zeke’s birthday this past year!

    Sweet 😆

Mopsy and U-man, continued best wishes for Mr.Mopsy’s recovery.

The least funny man on a CBC comedy show.

Agreed. I got a free ticket for one of his shows and still felt ripped off afterwards. The unfunniest of all-time has to be this guy though – http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zxsbVMrOUNw/ShhHQcLkR8I/AAAAAAAACIw/bZ9hTa040Jk/s400/1mike.jpg

A couple of former NHL players

PJ Stock, he’s on HNIC! In Canada that makes him an A-list celebrity.

    Her partner for the show

Dude, it’s spelled Georges Laraque, you probably don’t want to offend one of the most feared enforcers to ever lace em up. Or Habs fans.

The star of one of the CBC’s more popular shows ‘Being Erica’

“High ratings” and “CBC” don’t go together unless you’re talking sporting events. Like curling.

FWIW I thought the pics turned out good. The one of Erin Wassname was my fave.
RE the cloudy day shooting – isn’t that supposed to be better shooting conditions than bright sun? More diffuse light = less harsh shadows, no?

clouddancer, what the? You were supposed to be jealous of me, not the other way round 😉 No fair, I haven’t even laid my grubby paws on Curious‘ old Minolta yet, and you’re already playing with yours 😥

In all seriousness, I am very glad for you. Happy shooting!

And, look; I’m $50 deep in twinkies, ding dongs, suzy Qs, Zingers, etc.

That’s a whole lot of chemical preservatives right there. Blech!

ZeroExponent I wanted to thank you for the little gift you gave to a newb farktographer. She and my grandpa were very close and his death was a very hard time for our family.

You’re welcome. Hugs all around. I unintentionally solved the mystery of your mom’s secret identity 😮
I get my sentimentality from my mother’s side – she cries at weddings, sad movies, red lights …

Belated kudos to SilverStag for getting the win, in a very tough field of competition!

Looking at this before breakfast was a mistake. Now I want cookie! Ah, well, giving blood today, so you’re supposed to eat something sweet to maintain glucose levels, right?

I used to work in a bakery years ago, no dessert pics from there for this contest though.
    DO(UG)H!
