Participantorionid why the security for the canal transit? i’ve been through there twice in an AKA and a CLG. but that was 61-62 and we didn’t have any security at all.
on the first transit in the AKA we stopped in Gutan Lake, filled the mike boats and swan in them since our captain wouldn’t let us swim in the lake itself.

ParticipantAs for the golf, well, my sig is as it has been since I joined farktography…
sorry, should have given you credit for the line.

Participantwell i have three and two are badass and one is only if you think possums in your laundry room are badass.
none will have a caption, they will stand of their own or fail. fortunately iv’e decided these contest are like golf 🙂

Participantok it’s nitpicking time 🙂
if your subject is truly bad ass why would it need explaining?
Curious
Participantreally late post but i was going to use these.

given my vote totals maybe i should have 🙂

ParticipantI’ve got a couple of ideas…the difficulty is going to be making them interesting :/
that was my problem last time. and most likely this time too. it’s difficult to make a triple boot computer tower actually show much geekyness.
and my various and sundry film cameras, while outside the norm, aren’t all that inherently interesting nor geeky. well except to those who may like old time mid and large format cameras.

Participantsince we don’t allow stitching who has a fisheye lens i can borrow?
oh and while you are here delivering it can you help clean up/straighten up my office/computer room.
also does one get extra points for having Ubuntu on one of the monitors.

Participantyou can’t take the votes personally. it’s a fickle crowd, and some of my favorite photos have been virtually unnoticed, while things I think of as throwaways sometimes get massive voting.
THIS a thousand times. fickle doesn’t begin to explain either the votes for a particular photo or the turnout in voters for a particular theme.
i have one win in the distant past and lots of 67th place finishes but as others have said fixating on votes takes most of the fun out of entering. i enjoy photography and whether shooting for a theme or archive hunting these contests provide a fun outlet.
orionid i looked at your missing legs photo a dozen times over two days before figuring out how it was done.

Participantjust spent 15-20 minutes looking through the archives and already have too many. picking three will be hard. part of the problem is what the finished 640 wide product looks like.
Curious
Participanthave uploaded my three for tonight and they are all from the same photo session. unoriginal perhaps but i like them and they match the theme 🙂

ParticipantHappy New Year fellow farktographers.
does “the entire kingdom” include reptiles, insects, etc.? i would think so but just want to be on the safe side here.
Curious
Participantmaybe i should have saved my “Christmas card” one for this week.

Participantmy second shot is an item in my yard that has been there for several years and i overlook it most times. when you see the shot note the deterioration that has taken place. so it’s neglected AND overlooked 🙂
Curious
Participanti forgot to bring home what i needed for one idea, my polarizing filter is for the 4×5 and would have been lame to boot and i forgot (until just now) that i have some 85 and 85a filters that might have fit my current lenses.
but there’s next week and it sounds fun.
Curious
Participantwhat they said ^ re links not working. then again my site was done with MSfrontpage2000 and sucks so there is that.
