Negatives made w/software are fine? I can’t find a rule against it, and AFAIK if someone wanted to scan a film negative and post it as-is that would be allowed…?

Congrats to Ranger Joe for the win and to kashari and SilverStag for the tie at 1st in total votes.

    Huh?

Total overall votes for your three entries. Congrats to the winners, esp Ranger Joe’s excellent kayaking shot!

Are wild animals in a city setting OK? Like a raccoon raiding a garbage can, or a hawk on a highrise?

If I had my way, my farkname would be Rincewind, my favorite Discworld character. After trying several variations, I gave up on that one. Apparently there are lots of Fark Rincewinds already–I hardly ever see them post tho…
Anyway, I tried a bunch of different names I don’t remember, they were all spoken for as well. Having recently studied exponents in math class, I typed in my favorite one, the one that turns any number except zero into “1”.
Now everyone on Fark probably thinks I’m some uber-math-nerd 🙄
FWIW, my geekiness goes much deeper than that.

Thank you! I had some camera drama–won’t go into it now, no time–but I almost couldn’t help but get some nice shots while I was there.

CauseISaidSo that whole Capilano sidetrip was well worth it. There’s lots to see and do there, so check it out if you can.

orionid Thanks for the comments. Good to know I am not the only one who has a juvenile sense of humor 😀

Plamadude30k alcohol may have been involved 😉

Congrats, BISS! Love that elongated house on the right, gives the image a surreal, fairy-tale quality.
I’m pleasantly surprised I managed to fare so well this week, considering the strong showing (although not a huge hit with voters, I see) of great photos.
zincprincess, my competitive nature almost stopped me from voting for your waterlily entry, but I couldn’t do it. Had to vote for it, it was just too good!

And thanks Elsinore; i don’t need any more F’s on my transcript 🙂

Elsinore, please put this entry out of its misery (delete), or at least disenvotenate?

I don’t exactly have an abundance of stair photos, wondering if this would qualify…

Dangit, Zero, between you and the coastal farktographers posting great scenary shots, you’re all really giving me a travelin’ jones!

I really like the Shannon Falls BC 3 shot. I take it from your last shot that you kayaked? That’s something I’ve always wanted to get into, but lack of any place decent to do so here has kept me from it.

Thanks, I had such a great time on this vacation, finally able to get some mountain and waterfall shots–too late for the recent contest tho, dammit!

That brave kayaker was shot from the safety of one of those aquabuses. I did get in some mountain biking, but next time I go to BC I would like to either kayak or at least go white water rafting … also some climbing would be fun … of course the skiing in the winter is fantastic too!

Congrats r, money well spent, I’d say. The idea to scan a liquid was really creative. I couldn’t spot any telltale wrinkles–did you have plastic wrap on there for protection?

CauseISaidSo , thanks for the stats. I’ve been meaning to say that I can’t get the javascript vote ranking to work ever since my IE updated to “Version 9.0” . Am I the only one having this issue?

I’ve got seven film cameras, and two digital (three if you count my videocamera that has a craptastic “snapshot” function). Three of the film cameras are antiques, bought from a restaurant that had them on display as knickknacks (along with a Victor 16mm movie projector, all 4 for $100)–I don’t know if they work.
I’ve still got my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic X-15 w/126 film, that I got around age 11.
The last time I shot w/film was when I bought a disposable underwater camera for $10 two years ago. I had a hell of a time finding somewhere to get it developed. I guess I’ll be shooting new stuff for the upcoming “film only” theme, as looking at my archival stuff makes me cringe for the most part 😳

U-man, I’m not using my soup cans. I have two, and I liked the one without the colored plastic better, but there’s other images I like better than that. The cans scans in question:

Orionid, too bad that didn’t work out in time. Hope you can get it going at some future date.
