Congrats again, you two. Looks like it was a great day. I like the bubbles, cool idea.

My wife told one of her friends about the bats and she asked what we were going to do to get rid of them! I’m thinking I need to build them a house so they have somewhere to roost.

*** Shakes fist in the air *** Mendooozaaaa, er I mean, U-maaaan!!!

Go ahead with yours, if you like. I was planning on making mine a b-side anyway. I think Warhol is way overrated anyway :p
CauseISaidSo , if I am thinking like you and U-man, I am definitely on the right track! Re your two photos, I like the coin better. Keeping in mind, I’m a coin collector who loves macro photos 😕

The idea is to take 4 different colors of cellophane, saran wrap, or as my wife suggested the clear covers they sell for kids’ book reports, and divide the glass of your scanner into quadrants. Lay a Campbell’s soup can in the center of each quadrant, et voila – your own personal Andy Warhol.

Already got one … in the CAN *rim shot*

/thought I was being all clever-like, now everyone’s gonna think I stole your idea grumble grumble 😉

rav glad you can participate! Sounds like you got a good machine for DOF. Like lokisbong, I have one of the cheap (HP) ones that blurs anything more than 5mm from the glass. Also, absolutely move stuff while scanning, that is part of the uniqueness of scanography.

Judging by how poorly my statue entry is doing, I wish I’d picked one of the murals or graffiti.

    The plaza dragon, esp.

ennui, I kind of went with the combination of both. Did I like what was depicted? Then further, did I like how it was captured by the farktographer? If a ‘yes’ to both, then it got my vote. And a few select ones got it meeting only one of the criteria, exceptionally.

I think the ‘liters’ really brought it this week.

Thanks, the dragon nearly made it, it was one of the final choices. I think the statue one I had a little bit of infatuation goin on because I took it that day. I still like it, but for the theme, meh.

Were you shooting though a window screen or something like that?

Yes, that is probably it. Looking at the other pics next to the one above, I see the robin inside my fence, so if I’d gone outside he would’ve spooked–so they were shot through the screendoor. Both of these are also 300mm at f/5.6, without the same effect:
    http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/6974/robinground.jpg
    http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/317/sharted.jpg (warning-birdpoop)

Judging from the angle of those two, they were shot through the window as opposed to the screen. I suspect I had just the right distance from the screen to get that hazy effect. Not likely to repeat the results without some rig to hold a pice of screen the right distance from the lens, I reckon. Ah well, been meaning to try that vaseline trick anyway.

Olavf, I tried your tip, but it was not quite what I was hoping for ..

    😉

    This is really fun.

This does not bode well if anyone was hoping to take first place … or second, or third 😉

ravnostic, can’t you borrow someone’s, or use a work scanner on your break? That would suck if you can’t play. Looking forward to see what people come up with for this one.

Pope Larry II, the one that made me laugh most was “This is vandalism/u are gay”.

ravnostic thank you for reminding me about murals, there are a ton of them around town…

U-man I love Iron Man, looks like an iron golem waiting to be animated. And on the subject of humorous stop signs referencing one-hit-wonder rappers with questionable fashion sense, I would like to add: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42385982@N06/5774755928/in/photostream

Can’t wait to see the contest; the sneak previews I’ve seen on here and flickr look good–U-man that first fire B and the last dandelion B are awesome.
I wish I could’ve done all four elements, but fire is out. The “best” idea I had? Learning how to breathe fire and get a good self-portrait of it … maybe next time.

Meh, it’s just a blog. I wouldn’t get to upset especially when he is praising your work. It could be worse, he could be making fun of your photo like mine!
    http://ihateyourhdr.tumblr.com/page/8 (Mustang Ragtop)

    I laughed at this BTW.

😮 You’re right, that is worse. What a douche. I notice the first photo mentioned on that page has 17 500 views and 300 something favorites: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kros/3213219623/in/photostream/
(the one right beside it of the double decker bus is pretty sweet too IMO)

I think I’ll write the author, and tell them to take it down like Farktographer said, because it rubs me the wrong way that I wasn’t asked; and also take sleeping‘s suggestion so it hopefully doesn’t happen again. Thanks guys.

LeicaLens, it’s good to see you posting again. Funnily enough, I was just thinking today that I hadn’t seen you post in a while, wondering if all was OK there…

Ditto that. Has anyone heard from corsec yet?

Can’t see SS‘s photo on Fark, but the link works.

    I have 250-odd B’s here.

    Anyone see any obvious picks?

Favorited the ones I liked, but “Brian” was already a fave.
