If we only had the money…. I’ve been itching to get a DSLR for quite a few months now, but the money situation hasn’t exactly worked out in our favor. I do want, but sadly can’t afford (though I’m selfish enough right now to want to make payments, though still not sure how that could work).

Food Porn at its finest. Mmmm. That looked SOOO good.

Unless I come up with better pictures, the cake picture will be one of my entries. I have whoopie cookies to make again (only got like 5 out the first time and they got eaten before pictures), and I was thinking about chocolate chip cookies. If I manage to go out to eat before the contest, I’m ordering dessert to take a picture of it, and if I’m too full to eat it, I’m bringing it home to eat later.

I didn’t set out to recreate it, but I wanted to make the cake and when I was doing it, I realized I could possibly use it for this contest, so I got a few pictures before digging in. Thought it’d look better with a slice out, so I cut out a bit, and I ended up with a potential entry, so I went with it.

Clarifying here while it’s on my mind, but I totally ripped off a shot for one of my entries (definitely using it). Short story, I made a cake the other day, and it was a featured recipe in the Hannaford Fresh magazine and I ripped off the cover picture for it, but of course mine’s not that exact shot. Different platter, different slice, not as finished, etc, but it’s still yummy and yummy looking. Is it okay to rip off another picture like that? Thanks.

Does the water have to be actually in liquid form? I’m thinking of some shots (possibly to use, will look at them again) I got this winter where there’s some ice/snow and some moving water; though in spring/summer/fall it’d be all moving water and thus liquid and not frozen. Is that okay?

I only have one picture I’m using. Got the shot I wanted yesterday (Hubby’s in it, too. 🙂 ) and well, the rest just seemed redundant, so I’m playing light. I hope it gets a few votes.

Unless Tiffopotomus shows back up, my 2 cents would be for ease of policing, fish by the taxonomic definition (which includes seahorses and eels, according to the wiki), as well as anything with “fish” in the name, shellfish, jelly fish, swedish fish, etc.

Sorry. Had to. Was thinking about goin’ gold fishin’ anyway for this. Realized we also have a hatchery or something pretty much next door, so might exploit that, too.

Thanks for the help, or trying to help 😆 , and the compliment about Chancellor. I showed my choices to Hubby and he picked number 1. I was surprised he didn’t say not to use our kids, and instead said it looked like Chance was just chillin’, relaxin’. Wish I could share how he sort of did a melty sounding blah, because it fits. Can’t wait to see the contest.

I’m only going with two that I got last night. Hubby finally managed to get dirty again. I know that’s weird, but he picked up tie-rods yesterday and replaced them after he got home, and our 4-year-old had to get in on the action and help out. Admittedly, they’re not fantastic pictures, but their hands are grungy and I needed something to get back into this so I’m going with it.

Almost glad I didn’t end up getting around to shooting new theme pictures (kind of distracted and only taking pictures of baby and 4-year-old right now anyway, but still). We don’t have many games, but the ones I thought might not be represented thus far have been (Mancala and Don’t Break The Ice, which was one of the 4-year-old’s birthday presents). Also thought of Apples to Apples, but that’s been done now too. May or may not have a usable picture of the Risk game that happened within the past few months, but it’s unlikely. Finding myself rather limited with the shots I want to take and only able to use the P&S and can’t seem to work it to get the shots I want with it.

Sorry! and cribbage are two of my favorite games of all time, though. My sister and parents like Euchre, though. I never could quite get the hang of that.

Kestrana – Yes, Myst fans. The name was chosen more for the books than for the video games. Husband was sort of insistent that’s what we name him, and I thought it was just fine. Haven’t had any negative remarks so far, or if we have, they’ve been veiled. We figured that one was spelling less likely to create confusion (Aitrus was married to Ti’ana, they had Gehn, who then had Atrus, who married Katran, who had Sirrus, Achenar, and Yeesha). We had considered Ti’ana for a middle name for a girl, but the name seems to be more popular now and is also the name of a Disney princess, so we sort of left it out.

Added a couple more pictures to the album, this time they’re ones I took. Trying to get a few good ones where his eyes are open. They seem to be a much darker blue than his brothers were/are.

soosh – If things didn’t become a mess, I’d wonder what happened to the place. 🙂 Apology accepted anyway though.

My supervisor got back to me on email and allowed me to take an early night! (YAY!) I’ve posted my two and I’m off to bed to catch at least a couple of Z’s before heading to the hospital. I’ll see what I can do about getting to a computer to vote on the pictures before the contest closes.
